7.7 RC2 NASB95 Visual Filter improvements
This is an improvement over what we had, but it still needs to go a bit further:
In one verse per line mode we need chapters listed above each chapter in large print, not the small letter next to verse 1. This will restore most of the look of the original and make it much easier to scan for the beginning of a chapter. The title appears as I'd like in paragraph format (bottom example) but not in one line format (top example):
One verse per line format:

Mark,
I will add this thread to the case we have for further improvements for the team to consider.

I wasn't sure whether to create it's own thread or post it here, so compromise occurred: Bug: Visual Filter in the wrong spot (NASB95 )

Philana,
I’m not a beta tester but I’ve been following this issue with great interest on the General forum thread.
In addition to Mark’s excellent suggestion regarding chapter titles, please ask the team to also make the pericope titles appear exactly as in Mark’s preferred bottom example (centered under the chapter title, with double spaces above and below the pericope title).
Also, after the small chapter number to the left of each verse 1 is removed as Mark suggested, I request the original NASB verse numbering format be used (verse numbers beginning a new paragraph bolded with all other verse numbers unbolded).

I just restarted my computer & forgot to update my current study layout. I am very UNhappy now to find my NASB in paragraph form! I have read some of these posts but do not understand what is going on. I'm not running the beta program but running Logos 7. I can find nothing in settings or tools to address this issue. Please help asap!

For clarification, this isn't a change with this version. If you just noticed this now, it is because you didn't download the resource update a month or so ago.
To turn on "verse by verse," turn on "bible text only" in the resource's visual filter menu (three circle icon). You will then select "verse by verse" as one of the options under that category.

Thanks, but "verse by verse" is not an option listed!

Sorry, it is called "one verse per line."

Thanks so much! I was looking at the down arrow to the right of the Bible Text Only. Now I'm back in business! Really appreciate the folks on the forums!

Any timeframe for when the visual filter improvements will hit the production version of Logos?

Andrew,
You can update to 7.0 for free, by getting the free Logos Basic Package for Logos 7. You can find it here: https://www.logos.com/product/136022/basic.

"dot" updates (i.e. 6.13 to 6.14) happen automatically. "Big" updates (6.x to 7.x) always require some action on your part, even though the engine is always free. Typically the "big" releases are available to those who subscribe (Logos Now) or make purchases first, then are available to everyone else a couple months later.

A particular issue I have not seen raised anywhere as yet is the fact visual filters do not work in the web app in comparability mode. So if someone finds themselves in this situation of using the web app on a device that uses comparability mode, they are locked out of a verse per line view and can not get back To anything near what FL has taken away.

Thanks for the info - download worked and the fixes are much appreciated. I look forward to additional improvements. I haven't done these downloads in the past out of fear of unwanted changes effecting the product. Who needs to go through another Windows 7 to 8 to 10 fiasco with interface changes?
I have a new request for the developers of the visual filter. NASB displays a leading space (or indent) on some verses. I've yet to identify a pattern to this behavior. In the example below: vs 3, 4, and 5 have varying, slight indents, but not vs 6.
This behavior doesn't occur in the copy verse function (that I have observed), just the verse-by-verse display. It occurred before the change to the paragraph format.
As an IT professional for 30+ yrs, I recognize the importance of consistency for readability. After all, the reason we find ourselves in this time of frustration was to satisfy the 2 dozen readability requests of the paragraph crowd which resulted in several dozen negative responses.
I recognize this is a minor issue and I haven't mentioned it in the decades I've used the product, but since Logos is reworking the interface, perhaps the developers can address this too.
Thanks.

Andrew,
I believe that indentation indicates the start of a new paragraph.

It's NOT a paragraph indent. Please observe this clip from verse-by-verse of Romans 1:
Indents occur in verses 1-5, but not six.
Compare that to the paragraph format:
The second paragraph starts on verse 7. If this was a paragraph indentation, it should only occur in verse 1 and 7, not 2-5.
Please do some investigation. Thanks.

That's really interesting. Thanks for the reply. I've seen this over many years on different computers, but maybe it's specific to certain displays. Could you check other places, too? Let's see what others find.

The mis-alignment is more noticeable when you increase the resource text size. This is with all filters off except One Verse Per Line and Chapter/Verse Numbers.
And here it displays correctly (except possibly the first J?) when the verse numbers are removed.

I also see this extra space, and reported it in a new thread for 7.8 Beta 1 here.

Thanks Randy Sims for noticing the issue related to text size. My eyes need REALLY BIG TEXT after all these years. Reading Greek gets really interesting even with glasses.
Thanks Mark Smith for the additional thread.
