Creating a new note is very slow.

I have a large notes file, currently holding 2300 notes on one of my notebooks. It is filled with notes I've copied & pasted over the years, as well as my own original thoughts. Often it is painfully slow to create new notes. It is also common, when I change the icon, for the entire Logos app to crash. 

Any ways to fix this? Are there not size limitations I should be aware of? Thanks

We would need logs, especially for the crash. Also any specific repro steps, examples of fonts used? The logs are really important because there are so many combinations of things that get used in Notes.

I have the same issue. Notes and highlights are very slow. It often takes 3-5 seconds for a highlight to appear, and sometimes even longer. I just assume it is caused by the large number of notes and highlights that I collected over the years (>15,000). It is annoying at times but I fortunately, I haven't experienced crashes due to notes.

Somebody could probably confirm or disprove your hypothesis if you posted some logs Armin; or were you just shooting the breeze?

Hi Mike,

I have previously posted logs due to performance issues. I was told that I had too many collections. I deleted many of them and it did not make a difference. I came to conclude that Logos just slows down once the library grows and the number of notes and highlights increase. Hardware-wise I should be ok: I have a 2.5-year old MacBook Pro that had top specs at that time and has a 2TB SSD.

Here are logs and samples. If you can find a reason for the lack of performance, it would be great:

Be thankful...it takes anywhere from 1 to 1.5 minutes to create a note in L3. Very frustrating.

Yes. It does many things better than any version of Logos that has been released since. All my note-taking is done in 3. I use L7 on my newer computer and L5 on my older computer in conjunction with L3, but they are basically backups. And some of my resources are only accessible in the newer programs. But when I'm teaching, I have to use L3. Using the other two would be like teaching with a lobotomy.

Lots of errors building web requests and downloading. And not just for Notes/highlights. Could be your internet.

Submit new logs (preferably via the paper-clip icon) if you still notice sync errors in Notification bar.

Many thanks for your reply. Yes, lately, I have been experiencing issues with Logos. A very common problem is that when I close Logos, the "Synchronizing" popup window never finishes synchronizing. And clicking "Exit Now" does not do anything. I have to Force Quit the app on my Mac. I don't have fiber cable at home but still relatively decent Internet (10Mbps download and 3Mbps upload).

I'm finally getting around to responding. Here are the logs from my last Logos crash when creating a note and changing the note icon. I am glad that the latest beta is a bit faster than the old one in creating notes.
