Is anyone having trouble importing videos (mp4) into Proclaim? I get message "Failure opening file for upload". This is the first time it is has ever failed and I am wondering if it is a bug after the last update.
Thanks for any help. Stephen
Hi Stephen,
Sorry you're having trouble. Make sure you've installed any pending updates. OS Build and Version (Windows 10 2004 or Catalina 10.15.7 are the most recent). If you are on Windows I would check to make sure your Windows Media Player is up to date as well: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17615/windows-media-player-12
If you're still having issues after checking those things, please submit logs through the Help menu in Proclaim and we'll take a look.
Hi Stephen,Looking into this on Windows, I wasn't able to reproduce any issues uploading .mp4's to proclaim on Mac
I didn't see that Brandon had replied to this but just to be thorough I also was not able to reproduce upload issues on Windows, both my systems are updated so I'm thinking it's either an update issue or the unique video file.

I should have clarified I'm using Windows and opened the Windows Media Player (which I hardly look at!!) and it updated the videos on my computer. Opened Proclaim and........ video went straight. Yeah
So thank you for your prompt replies. (I've learnt something new)
Open your Windows Media Player everyone!!
What about in 2025 on Windows 11? I'm having the same issue on two different computers. Some videos upload fine, while others from the same source and similar sizes give the unhelpful error message "Failure opening file for upload". I tried rebooting in case the file was open in the background for some reason but that did not help. Any advice? Thanks!
Try enabling the new Windows video player - described here
If that doesn't fix the problem I recommend starting a new thread as the reasons for the problems you are seeing may be very different from those being discussed five years ago
