Actually, Logos 4 Mac is “shipping” right now. We have a few more goodies to include, so we aren’t calling it “final” until October. Now is the time to buy. The sale is on now, the downloads are ready to go, and everyone who buys today will automatically get a free download of the final release version on October 1!

Most likely what Logos sold you was one of their packages. The engine has always been free, at least from 2004 when I started using it. The package determines whether all of the features were available. The free engine will not give you Biblical people, things and places, or the interlinears.

Bob Pritchett said:The Mac engine will be free from now on. You can download the (very early) alpha at:
http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LBS4MacInstaller/Logos4Mac.dmg
We do strongly recommend at least the minimal crossgrade, because it
comes with some fantastic content that helps Logos 4 really shine, but
it's not at all required.Sorry for the confusion!

When you buy a Logos 4 base package, you can use that package on Windows, Mac and/or iOS device. The Windows and Mac engines are free downloads from our website. The iOS app is free in Apple's App Store. If you bought a Logos 4 Base package and have been using it with the Windows engine, you can download the Mac engine for free now (Beta 7) or when we ship (October 1) or anytime in between.

Thanks for the clarification Cameron. Very few software companies allow you to use the same software via different platforms or on multiple computers.Cameron Watters said:Michael Wilbanks said:I am confused. What i already bought, I get the final version right? Its not free...I bought it...RIGHT?

This is a bit confusing. Unless there has been a change to the model, everyone who has bought (including those who buy today) will get a free download to the final release version.
All that aside... it is so good to see us go Gold in October!

That was lovely news to wake up to this morning. [ip]
A big thank-you to all the developers who have worked so tirelessly to achieve this. [:D]

Great to see this news as I've had the Mac version since before the alpha turned teenager. Sadly slightly tainted by the fact that I'm not a US resident and so excluded from the prizes party. But hey, well done guys.

The reason it's confusing is that it isn't directed towards you: it's meant for all those people who are just now tuning in and don't know any better [:)].

The best solution would be for all of you to withdraw all your entries into the contest while you pray for the right person to win. Meanwhile, I'll be praying and making sure God knows who the right person is...

As we've stated unequivocally in the forums before, Handouts will not be in the initial Mac release.
According to this page, sermon file will is not scheduled for inclusion until 2011.

From the announcement:
I’m a Windows user. Is this just for Mac users?
No. The special discounted pricing is good for both Mac and Windows users. So if you missed out on our launch specials last November or you wish you had upgraded to an even higher base package, here’s your second chance to save big! Windows users are also welcome to participate in the Ship Day Giveaway.

You make it hard to pray that you will an iMac (See my post above). I'll have to say, "Lord, is Robert mature enough to handle a Mac? Can he really effectively use a grown-up machine?" [8-|]

what if I already purchased the logos 4 for Windows with logos 4 mac option?

We need a little more information in order to answer this question.
1 Can you still enter the contest to win a new Mac? Yes.
2 Can you upgrade your purchase at a really good price? Yes.
3 Can you reverse your purchase and repurchase at the discount price? How long ago did you make your purchase? Call sales and see what they can do for you. I talk with Santiago and recommend him without reservation.
4 When you purchase L4, you purchase a license that covers both the Mac and Windows versions on as many computers as you personally use. For the purposes of this, you are your wife are considered one—which is thoroughly Biblical—for most cases (If you pastor a church and you wife teaches seminary, Logos will then consider you to be two separate users).

Chris Morgan said:

I don't understand this question. If you already have Logos 4, you already have Logos 4. Which engine you use (Mac, Windows, iPhone) is up to you. You can have 3 Macs and 4 PCs an iPhone, an iPad and an iPod Touch (please, don't anybody call it an iTouch) all running Logos 4 (or the Logos iOS app) under one license. The limiting factor is that the license is for one user. There's a good discussion of what the means here.
We don't even have separate SKUs in the store. When you put a Logos 4 base package in your cart on the website, you cannot specify a platform choice. This is not a mistake.
Now, if you want to upgrade the Logos 4 package you have, say, from Leader's Library to Portfolio, now seems like as good a time as any. But you don't have to upgrade if you already own a Logos 4 package.

sorry for my brevity...I mean I bought full version back when it first was released in Nov, but obviously the Mac version is still in beta, how do I get the full version when it is officially released...is it just a download like all of the alpha-beta releases, or is it a cd in the mail, or is the current beta version essentially the same as the official release?
0 -
haha, yes!

I'll pray that Robert wins, but only because I not eligible to enter since I don't reside in the US or Canada.....[:'(]
..... I'd take a free MAC or iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch even..... but I'd just have to make sure knew I'd crossed to the dark side... the MAC especially since I could then get in on beta Testing on that platform.... so I could make sure Logos doesn't slip in any extra features in the MAC version
All the same I sent out the link on Twitter and posted it on my facebook page. Dare I say it I know a few people that use MAC's. [6]

It would just be a download Chris.

Chris, a little of each. :-) If you already have the beta installed on your Mac it will automatically download the update when it goes gold. No worries. If you would prefer to have it on DVD, you will be able to order it from customer service. and finally, yes it will be essentially the same as the beta, only with fewer bugs (that's the plan) and more polished (also the plan).Chris Morgan said:how do I get the full version when it is officially released...is it just a download like all of the alpha-beta releases, or is it a cd in the mail, or is the current beta version essentially the same as the official release?

May I add my thanks for the Mac Developers, please?
I've moved house and been away on church work (plus a sneaky little family holiday) since the beginning of June. As a result I haven't had as much time with the software or the forums as I would have liked, but as a result I've effectively jumped from Alpha 21 to Beta 7. What can I say? Wow! Can't wait until October.
Thanks, guys! My leap of faith buying a base package in January (and giving in to the upgrade temptation in May) has been vindicated. [:D]
