Logos Becomes Unresponsive while using Sermon Editor
This is at least the 3rd or 4th time today Logos has frozen using the sermon editor. As best I can tell, it freezes when I am trying to click to move the cursor to different parts of my sermon document, and when it doesn't freeze, it seems laggy, and does not seem to consistently register when I have clicked my mouse.

Nothing detectable in the logs - certainly not a crash.
It would help to provide a video (.mp4 is best, upload via the paperclip icon).
Is the hard/SSD drive OK?

Do you have a wired or cordless mouse?
I helped someone with the same issue in other applications. It turned out to be a battery starting to run low. I hope this could be the issue and not a bug. The other issue on the same setup was interference between the wireless keyboard and mouse from the same manufacturer. I replaced the mouse. Strange that the issues started a week after using both.

I have a wireless mouse and I suspected there might be an issue with the mouse. However, I checked the battery (100%), and I was also able to use other apps, as well as maximize/minimize the Logos window. However, Logos itself was frozen and I could only exit out of it by using the Windows Task Manager.

Another crash today, same issue, and once again it occurred right after inserting a Scripture reference. When I restarted Logos, once again (just like in the video), the Scripture reference was gone and the last saved character was the colon in the Scripture reference.
This is what it looked like immediately after the crash:

Another crash today
Thanks for the report. We'll investigate on our end regarding the hang.
We've noticed performance issues for really long sermons which is something our team is working on improving. One thing we did notice in the logs was some issues related to the sermon manager even though you are in the sermon builder. For testing purposes, could you close your sermon manager and see if that helps and let us know?

This continues to happen a few times every day.
I can confirm that it happens with the sermon manager closed, and also when typing ordinary text (i.e., crashing is not limited to inserting Scripture references).

Are you able to replicate this behavior on another computer?

Matt, I add my experience here.
I use Sermon Editor almost everyday.
Just came here to see if anyone else were having the same issue as mine.
In the last hour, my Logos froze more than 5 times while composing a sermon. Can't interact with the program, cursor moves but doesn't click anything. It remains frozen as I were to type something.
It happens mostly when I paste something from outside the editor (a formatted verse from Bible, for example).
I can affirm it happens everywhere here (Main PC and two laptops). It is so annoying because I need to kill the process and re-open Logos.
I would suggest it has something related to verses, because from the last 4 crashes, 3 of them I was dealing with a verse, either processing it or pasting.
Hope you can fix this ASAP.

This is good information, thanks. I'll spend some more time today investigating. Would you say a 10k-word sermon is more or less than your sermon? I only ask as we've noticed issues with longer sermons and want to try and get my sermon as close as possible to yours regarding length and the steps taken inside the sermon editor.

This is helpful and I'll try and replicate using this information as well as inserting scripture from Robert's useful information.

To confirm though, when you say "crash" you mean hang correct? Hang as in the application freezes and forces you to manually close the application rather than the application closing (crashing) on its own?

For me,
My sermons were generally ~5000 words.
Hang is the correct word, rather than crash.
I can confirm that it's not just inserting Scripture, but also typing or deleting, (perhaps deleting paragraph breaks?), and it is usually when I am working fast, and after it hangs, it hadn't been able to save the changes that had appeared on the screen. In one case, I deleted 2 paragraph breaks, and when I restarted, neither of them had saved.

Yes, "hang" is what I mean, sorry.
Has just happenned again. Composing a class with sermon builder and when I tried to paste a portion of text from notepad, Logos hangs. Cursor moves, but I can't do anything. Tried to use Win+D to go to desktop and when I tried to get back to Logos it never shows up. Only possible solution is ctrl+shift+esc and kill Logos and open it again.

I am having the same problem. This just started occurring very recently. I am currently working on a 7000 word sermon. The editor "hangs up" when I am editing an inserted quote or inserted scripture. It is random in that it does not hang with every insertion/edit. It has rendered my sermon editor almost unusable. I haven't tried the online editor but that may be my backup until this is fixed.

I am having the same issue as well. The latest hang was when I was highlighting a text to change it to bold. I had to close with task manager. My sermon is 6,700 words.
Perhaps related:
I have also noticed that selecting a saved font style from the menu bar in both notes and sermon editor don't seem to be working for me. I can select it but then it doesn't type in selected style. My work around is to first type out the text then highlight it and change it to the font style of my choice.0 -
Thank you, everyone, for the valuable information. We've successfully replicated the issue on our end and will continue to investigate.

Could you make a separate forum post as that doesn't seem to be related to the current issue of the Sermon Editor hanging.

After using Sermon Editor and Sermon Builder from the beginning. I finally had my first "hang" today I had converted normal text to Blockquote and was adding some spaces between words in https://documents.logos.com/documents/3402f20d1a66a369205af580429127b5 (my import from MS Word sometimes drops spaces if adjacent to italics or underlined text).
Fortunately, the autosave as you go feature of Logos meant that a quick trip to the Task Manager to end task, then relaunch of Logos meant that I lost VERY LITTLE between the last save and the hang!!

Hey all, I believe we have identified, replicated, and fixed this bug in the latest release v33.2: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/222542.aspx
Please post if you have any issues after this update.
