Has anyone downloaded and installed IE 10? I am curious as to how this new Windows browser will (or will not) be compatibile to Libronix.

Thanks.

From various discussions on the forums Libronix and IE10 don't seem to be compatible. Please see - for example:

Thanks for your replies.

My operating system is Win7 Ultimate. It has the Windows XP Mode.

I am thinking of uninstalling Libronix from Win7 Ultimate and installing it on Windows XP Pro which uses IE8.

I can then download and install IE10 on Win7 Ultimate.

Peace to my Logos Forums Brothers and Sisters!             *smile*

I am a real super excited fan of Logos Bible Software 5.0b SR-1 (5.0.2.0727)!!!          Incredible software and really amazing!!!

However, I have kept a working and up-to-date installation of Logos 3.0g.  Right now I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and IE 10; and it still seems to work well.  Again, I don't use it often since I'm so happy with 5.0b, but I do open it up, perhaps once a week.

For Old Time's Sake and for the Sake of "Nostalgia," I probably will keep Logos 3.0g until I need the hard drive space.  Have been a Logos Bible Software User since the spring of 1993 -- 20 years  this Spring Time!          *smile*

Great. I am happy for you. However I fail to see any relevancy to my post and your reply.

IE8 is the last version fully compatible with Libronix, IE9 needed a patch and Libronix is flaky/unrelaible with IE10. So it is a good move to get Libronix out of the way of IE10.

Dave,

Thank you for your reply. I had forgotten that IE8 is the last Windows browser that is fully compatible with Libronix (no patch needed).

So, uninstalling Libronix from Win7 Ultimate and installing it on Windows XP Mode will work even better than I had thought.

I just built a new system ... upgraded MB and processor. Have Windows 7 Pro with IE 10. Will try to install L3 sometime this week. I'll post on here my success or failure.

IE10 has not been proven to be incompatible. I had L3 running on Win8 with IE10. But people who did in-place upgrades to Win8 seemed to have problems.

In your case, you have nothing to lose by leaving L3 on your system through the IE10 upgrade. If it still works afterwards, then you spare yourself the overhead of the virtual machine. If it doesn't work, then just proceed as planned Cool.

PS - VMware Player (free) does a much better job of virtualizing Windows. It is state of the art. Does your processor have the VT-x extensions? If not, Microsofts XP mode will be especially slow. If you are not sure, try this:

John,

Thanks for the info concerning IE10 and L3. However, considering that IE9 needed to be patched to be compatible to Libronix isn’t it most likely that IE10 would also need to be patched to be compatible?

BTW, I am content with the performance of Windows XP Mode. I only use it for legacy software whose manufacturers refuse to make drivers for Win7.

I am not satisfied however with L3 in Windows XP Mode. It works fine but the appearance of the texts is not to be compared with the same in Win7. So, if IE10 proves to be compatible with L3 I will be most happy.

Solution: wait until other Libronix forum members upgrade to IE10 and read their experiences

My personal experience is that IE10 disables Libronix' search function. Everything else works OK. But without a search function the program loses most of its usefulness. I am considering upgrading to Logos 5 but without purchasing new books. My only problem is that the  installation will need to download all my resources again. That I don't understand. I have everything on CD as well as on the PC. So unless the format, or something else, has changed I can't see the need. To download a couple of GB with a limited bandwidth is not the way to go. Any ideas?

Peace to you, Leon!                            *smile*

I remember a couple of years back when I first got into Logos 4 (I now have Logos 5, of course!).   Anyway, my original installation found my resources on my hard drive, then I merely had to "update" them later  -- from "the cloud"!!!!

Very likely that same "benefit" is still "true"  ?????    Don't panic yet, please, until you get more information, preferably from someone who knows what he/she is talking about ..        *smile*     It is my "surmise" that the same is true!

What you don't have are resources in the new Logos 4 format; which produces smaller files because they don't contain indexing data. However, the resources you have can be used in Logos 5 (I still have nearly 200 files in the Libronix format). If you use the wiki Method 3 you can avoid downloading and use only the resources on your PC (first Sync your resources in Libronix to ensure the licenses are captured by Logos' servers).
