If Logos and Moody ever work out an arrangement, this one-volume commentary would be great to have. It's coming out in February 2014.

Could LOGOS beat the current Kindle price?

Logos does beat Kindle on occasion with Vyrso resources. Most of the time they are comparable, but if there is a price advantage it is with Kindle. Remember, however, that Vyrso books download into your Logos library and are mobile enabled.

This resource, if it were to come to Logos, would not be a candidate for Vyrso. Since Moody doesn't currently sell resources in Logos editions, Logos isn't likely to be able to match at all. [;)] (Since Vyrso editions are auto compiled, logos is better able to match prices... Not so with "value added" logos editions)

Does Logos ever *beat* Kindle prices? Or do they simply price-match when it is brought to their attention?

i think it is sad when people expect Logos to price match Kindle. They are two completely different formats. In my Kindle I have a whole pile of individual resources that I can read standalone, make a note or highlight, look up a definition, and that's about it.  Adequate for resources I simply want to read the content, but that's about it.  A book in my Logos library offers so much more than just it's content - it becomes truly integrated into the whole of my library.  It is no longer a book I just read cover to cover.  The content is accessible for use is so many more different ways.  I looked at the Kindle price and would never pay that for a commentary in kindle format just for the sake of adding it to my library,  but if it ever came to Logos I'd be willing to pay more.  To buy it in Kindle format it would have to be on a limited time price reduction to 9.99 or below. The only scenario I would pay the current kindle price is if was a required text for a course I was doing.

Sure I'd love the price of Logos books to be lower but not if it reduces them to nothing more than kindle or ePub books.

I have seen books where Vyrso beats Kindle prices, several of them I think. With no discussion about price-match or anything.

I don't expect Logos to price match kindle books either.  I would however like for Logos to price match third party Logos resources (Which we're running out of options as materials get sold).  Like for example, Tyndale Commentaries used to be offered for $148 at CBD, but Logos would never match their price, though Logos was the one who had to unlock the resource.  Nelson's Reference Bundle was sold at $399 buy a third party, except it went by the name of e-Bible Pastor's Edition, but it never was price matched by Logos even though you had to go through them to get it unlocked.  So think about it Logos resources sold cheaper by third parties - that automatically leads you to be live that Logos could indeed sell things a little bit cheaper, which they are choosing not to do more often now days.

But anyway, price match a kindle version for a Logos version, no way! Kindle is for reading alone and that's it, Logos is definitely better, though sometimes too over priced when in some resources there's not much tagging involved (one clear example: John G. Butler's ABE which a third party has done tagging too and is not that much).  Anyway, yeah no price match for kindle product was meant, at least not by me...LOL

Bob gave a very detailed explanation about why third party resources are cheaper in another thread: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/79180/555777.aspx#555777

Technically, Logos doesn't ever "price-match" Kindle prices. Many times the specials are offered by the publisher, and the prices are the same across the various platforms. Other times, Amazon uses "lost leaders" (which means that they lose money to "lead" users into other purchases and to gain market share).

There are absolutely times where Logos BEATS the Kindle price. More often than not, the books are priced the same. When there is a price difference, it is often slightly in Kindle's favor, but only by a very small amount. On occasion, the Kindle price is much lower. If you check things first thing in the morning, you are more likely to see a discrepancy... By noon, Logos has typically adjusted their prices to reflect the publisher offers. If you think there is a publisher offer, you can check with the other sites (Nook, Kobo, CBD, etc) to see if the price is the same. That is one of the tip offs to see if it is a publisher offer. If you find one of those where Vyrso isn't matching, contact Logos or create a thread. They won't be able to match unless the publisher extends the offer to them (sometimes they don't! and this isn't only VYrso... I have seen the price the same at some but not all of the others!)

"If you build it, it will come...echo, echo, echo!" LOL Well, after reading that, it all makes sense now (at least the third party stuff part...LOL).  Thanks for the link!

Logos and Kindle are apples to oranges and a very unfair comparison.
