Bug(?) Prioritization and Order of Parallel Resource Set

Background: I started a long/painful process to identify my top 10 Commentaries for each Book in the Bible that I owned based on www.bestcommentaries.com (I got the idea from someone here many months ago). I further prioritize the top 5 for each book and narrowed the type and range under advanced prioritization.

The commentary section of the Passage Guide seems to respect the prioritization that I have set, however, the order in the Parallel Resources Set is not correct.

For the purpose of illustrating the problem we just look at the book of Joel and Amos. Attached are screenshots of (a) Prioritization for each book (b) Passage Guide list (correct order) (c) Parallel Resources Set (out of order)

Book of Joel:

NAC (Hosea & Joel) mysteriously appeared as 2nd item in Parallel Resources Set

Book of Amos:

Hermeneia (Joel & Amos) by Hans Walter Wolff should not have appeared here
Hermeneia (Amos) by Shalom M. Paul should be the 2nd item
etc

Bump ... Would appreciate if Logos can at least acknowledge that this is a Bug, or may be educate me if there is something so simple that I have done wrong ... hoping to get some attention amongst the so many other posts from someone in a different time zone where the post get move to the second page very quickly [:)]

ALL multiple books Commentaries, at least those I owned that I have selected as my top 10 commentaries by book based on recommendations from www.bestcommentaries.com has failed to respect "in this Range" field in the Advanced Prioritization.

To illustrate another case that involved prioritizing my top 5 commentaries for Judges and Ruth, where there are 2 overlapping multiple books (NAC NIVAC with Judges and Ruth).

(1) Book of Judges

(a) Prioritization of my top 5 commentaries on Judges

(b) Parallel Resources Set - Order correctly (purpose is to show that NAC and NIVAC prioritization in Judges, influenced the prioritization for the same Resources in Ruth)

(2) Book of Ruth

(a) Prioritization of my top 5 commentaries on Ruth

(b) Parallel Resources Set - Order incorrectly (those highlighted)

These 2 resources were prioritized in within the range of Judges as per Prioritization for Judges in (1)
NAC Judges/Ruth is supposed to the Second in the Ruth List but came out First
NIVAC Judges/Ruth is supposed to be Fifth in the Ruth List but came out Third

Please note that Commentary Section in Passage Guide are all Ordered correctly.

Given that it's different in the passage guide and the parallel resource menu it does look like a bug to me.

But to try and root out the cause, can you clarify whether you have the Hermeneia and NAC commentaries prioritised at all?

Thanks for your reply. I prioritized my top five Commentaries for each Book of the bible (not as a series). So yes I have Hermeneia and NAC commentaries if it is one of the top five according to the list(s) in www.BestCommentaries.com if I owned them. Let me know if you need other information. Under Commentaries Prioritization, I have 5 x 66 = 330 items ... quite a long list where good half of it are Advanced Prioritized.

I have a lot more issues with the minor prophets where typically one Resource has a number of books. When a resource is prioritized once (even if I limit the range), I noticed it will be prioritized in subsequent books down the line (with a different Bible Reference range) , therefore messing up my prioritization.

I do not know how to articulate well, so I thought if I can pick a simple example in my second post for Judges / Ruth to show that NAC & NIVAC messed up my Parallel Resources Set Order, hopefully someone in Logos can recreate the issue and report the bug.

Thanks once again. You video on Logos 4 ages ago, was one of the motivation for me to tag, create collections, prioritize them ... my latest adventure is to work on individual books of the Bible.

I took 28 Screen shoots of Top 5 OT Commentaries by Book, and make them into a PDF file. Hopefully, this give you all the information you might need to get to the root of the problem.

You can see that in some of the cases I have narrowed down the range to very specific passages. I have also taken into consideration if the Commentary is index by Bible or Bible (BHS) ... where in some of the cases the range differs.

It's definitely a bug. I've tested it and produced a simple reproducible test case, which is a lot less scary that your prioritisation list! I'll report that in the beta form, where there developers are more likely to see it, and then link back here.

Faithlife have now replied to this bug report, but it's unlikely there'll be a timely fix. Bradley hints that they're considering "overhauling the prioritisation system" (which is much needed!), and fixing this won't be addressed outside of that larger project.
