6.10 RC-2 startup issues

Startup has been horrendous ever since the mono update (not that it was acceptable before that![:P])

I'm attaching a couple samplings of logs. The first one was taken a couple minutes after the beginning of startup, with the second one being taken 13 (thirteen)! minutes later. This entire time I was doing NOTHING on the computer except watching the sync arrows spin endlessly and the passage guide trying (but failing) to populate.

The third sampling was taken a few minutes ago when I again tried starting up, only to see the same behavior. 7 minutes later it is still doing the same thing. Argh!

Please go back to the drawing board with startup optimization....

Does 6.10 SR-2 change Startup time ? => Logos 6.10 SR-2 (6.10.0.0041) available for download

Note: 6.10 SR-2 was released to the Stable channel. Used command "set update channel to default" to download and install 6.10 SR-2. After application upgraded, used command "set update channel to beta" for switch back to Beta channel.

I think you should start up to a blank workspace. In that last log you've got syncing, indexing, updating the library catalog and a passage guide all going on at the same time. That's a recipe for problems which (apart from anything else) will make your passage guide keep restarting.

Start with a blank workspace, let syncing, indexing and cataloging finish, then see where what happens.

Since the mono update I have errors, also with starting up. I have 6.10 SR-2 build 6.10.0.0041 and a brand new MBP (2015) for about 3 months.

These are the errors I always get (and I believe Reuben has some of these too):

CrossProcessMemory wanted to read 8 bytes, but got 0. What is this? I did clear my memory and thought that would help.

MetadataServiceUtility | Invalid ResourceId. What is this? I have some 30-40 warnings like this.

Rebuilding library catalog index. No error/warning here, but why is this happening all the time.

I also had syncing errors this week, but I changed the standard Mac Firewall settings (for the first time) and these errors are gone (I hope).

Hope someone will look into this.

How are you opening the resource? There's a known hang (on Mac) when dragging a resource from Cover view in the Library into the workspace. As a workaround, use a different Library view, or click (not drag) the title to open it.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mark, but it doesn't seem to help. I loaded to a blank layout and made sure synching was up to date before I loaded my layout (BTW, even when clicking the layout button while at a blank layout, there is a significant delay until the drop-down appears). Partway through the attempt to load the layout and populate the guide, the sync arrows start their endless spinning. Attached are logs taken during this time.

They don't show a sync error, but there is evidence of a corrupt index earlier

In /Users/Reuben/Library/Application Support/Logos4/Documents/fzl4nl6w.ete/Documents delete the 6 files named documents.* and restart Logos.

It's definitely much better, but still taking 1.25-1.5 minutes from startup until the passage guide populates. For purposes of comparison, this is opening to a two pane layout that includes the ESV and the standard passage guide (linked). ALL visual filters are turned off, the PG has all sections collapsed except the "commentaries" section which is set to display the default 10 commentaries.

At approximately 30 seconds I get the spinning beach ball until the guide populates.
