Logos Running Slow? Try This Fix
I'm posting this here as probably not many people follow the beta forum.
For a long long time, some of us have been having a problem with Logos disappearing from the Windows taskbar.
Bradley offered a workaround for this with the following command (enter in the command box just to the right of "Tools"):
set custom chrome to no
I'm not sure entirely what this does (something with window rendering & appearance, I presume), but it solved the problem for me. More importantly, this has GREATLY improved the performance of Logos in terms of opening resources and layouts. The lag & freezing I usually briefly experience opening something has also stopped. (Search speed I should think would not be affected by this.)
The only drawback is a very minor one, a small hit to the aesthetics of the windows and title bars. For me the tradeoff is a no-brainer. My system is not ancient but not real new either, and this has made Logos much much better to use.
Can anyone else try this & report their experience?
If this performance improvement is widespread, it might be worthwhile to discuss, with official FaithLife participation, why a visual setting has such a great and deleterious effect on performance, and given that, why by default it is set to on.
(FYI, FWIW, I'm using Windows 10. The problem mentioned in the linked thread has been around for longer than that.)
