I am moving my personal books in Logos from one location to another.  Is there a way to fix all of these files at once and point to a new directory?  All i can see for now is I'd have to rebuild each book from the new location.  Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the source files (.docx) or the compiled personal books?

The source files for my compiled personal books.  To make some room I'm moving them to a different location and now they all have yellow ! marks by them.  So I've been going through them one at a time and recompiling them.  I tried the scan command but that didn't fix it.  Any thoughts?

I'm afraid I think this is the only way to do it.

That just imports compiled books - doesn't do anything for PB source files I'm afraid

If all that was in the old directory were personal books, wouldn't a link serve to redirect the program to the new directory for those books?

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Well that is unfortunate... I hope FL fixes this one day.  This will take a while

I'm trying to understand why this is necessary. I understand that the directory where your source files reside is taking up space on some drive. Once the PB is compiled in Logos you should be able to use the book without problems. UNLESS/UNTIL you want to recompile the PB by updating the source. In my workflow I would usually just ignore the yellow exclamation point (because it means nothing in the functionality of the PB) until I needed to edit my source file, then I would recompile from the new location.

Is there something I am missing?

P.S. I have some obsessive/compulsive tendencies so I understand if getting rid of the exclamation points just makes one feel like everything is working right.

Thank you Dave!  I guess I should have investigated further.  I just assumed when yellow exclamation marks were present they wouldn't work.  If my OCD kicks in I'll resume fixing it i guess though I wish Logos would implement a better way to do this in the future

I had the same assumption until I bought a new computer and installed Logos. When Logos installed and downloaded my library, all my PBs came down from Logos servers, but had the yellow exclamation points. When I edited a sermon and preached it in a second location (before the days of Sermon Builder PBs was the only way to get my sermons into my Logos Library). I discovered the yellow exclamation points. recompiling the source document got rid of the exclamation point. which prompted me to take on the tedious endeavor that you have discovered. I since have learned to live with the exclamations. Big Smile

What I have done, is create a personal book folder (such as Logos_PB) in a drive that every computer has (C:\). My personal books don't consume much space, so the impact on the drive wouldn't be that great. Now, I can have a backup of the folder almost anyplace so if anything ever happens to the files, all I have to do is to copy the backup to the C drive. I set up each computer this way, so it is standardized. This may not help in the current situation, but would help in the future.

Also: There is a way copy the PB's to the Logos cloud but it is a little quirky when it comes to deleting books that are no longer desired. For some reason it is hard to completely remove the file. I haven't played around with that for some time now.

I didn't realize our PBs were on their servers. If this is the case why are PBs not on our mobile devices?

They are if we choose to upload them - there is an Upload button in the PB tool

As far as I know this is still the Faithlife position on this one.
