Bible highlights / "Corresponding annotation from" gives inconsistent behavior
I like the Bible highlights, but it's hard to tell what version I did the highlight in. Sometimes when I'm in a different version from where the highlight was made and I point to the highlight, I get a popup message that says "Corresponding annotation from ESV" or whatever version where the original highlight was made.
But this behavior isn't consistent. I'm trying to figure out if this is a "bug" or a "feature" and how it works.
Here's what I'm experiencing. I highlighted the verse 1 Kings 7:1 in the LEB. Then I viewed it on the layout "6 Bibles: LEB, ESV, NKJV, NIV, CSB, NLT" where these 6 versions are on the screen in 6 vertical columns and all visible. The same verse is highlighted in all 6 versions now, but some have words that aren't highlighted within the verse. When I pointed the mouse to the word "entire" in the ESV, I got a popup that said "Corresponding annotation from LEB" which let me know that highlight was originally made in the LEB. (See the attached screenshot: 2020-04-18-corresponding-annotation-from-LEB-appears.png)I switched to the layout "Devotional Meditation". Then I pointed to the same word "entire" in the ESV in 1 Kings 7:1. This time there was no popup given. (See the attached screenshot: 2020-04-18-corresponding-annotation-from-LEB-doesnt-appear.png)I have a couple of questions about this.
1. Why does the popup "Corresponding annotation from LEB" appear on the layout "6 Bibles: LEB, ESV, NKJV, NIV, CSB, NLT" but the same popup doesn't appear on the layout "Devotional Meditation"?
2. Viewing the layout "6 Bibles: LEB, ESV, NKJV, NIV, CSB, NLT", why are some words highlighted in 1 Kings:1 for ESV, NKJV, NIV, CSB, NLT and others not? Is it because those words aren't in the ENGLISH version LEB, or is it because those words don't connect to the original HEBREW in the reverse interlinear database in Logos somehow?
Thanks so much!
Scott

In general, these popups don’t appear if the resource visual filter section “Notes and Highlights (Corresponding)” is not enabled. So worth checking that.
I didn’t think, however, that just changing layouts would affect this setting so - unless something else is changing - I am surprised you are getting different results

It’s the latter - the highlighting is done against the original language words and then flows back up into the English translation. Without an appropriate mapping, the highlight won’t appear.
Hope this is helpful. And, in general, it is better to post the question once and have both screenshots (in this case) in the same post as opposed to having two separate posts on the same subject.

Hi, Graham! Thanks for the quick reply.
I didn't know that I posted twice, because I got an error message on the first post.
When I tried to add a second image to the first post, it appeared to REPLACE the first image rather than ADD to it, so I could only do one image at a time anyway.I checked my layout and it DOES have "Notes and Highlights (Corresponding)" checked, but there's still no popup when I hover over the highlighted text. Why is that? Thanks!

You need to ensure that you are at a different place in the post.

I’m not sure why you are not seeing the popup. But just one detail - in your original post you were discussing the ESV but here you seem to be checking the setting for CSB. Are the settings the same?
But I think I might have been going down the wrong track anyway - the fact that the highlights are visible show that the setting is enabled.
So as the moment I don’t know why you are not getting the popup.

Graham, yes the settings are the same for ESV. Is there someone who could work with me to find out what the difference is? Feel free to have someone contact me via email/phone to schedule a time when someone could remote in and chase this further. (I take it that contact info is on my account, so I won't post it here.) Thanks!
