Dear Faithlife/Logos:

I already contacted Lifeway WordSearch regarding this matter but they have not contacted me back. It has been said that WordSearch is transferring WordSearch Library to Logos Bible Software.  Currently WordSearch Library includes a special KJV Bible which makes it easier to read with the headings all throughout the Bible.  I was told that because Logos already has the KJV Bible, they will not transfer the WordSearch KJV over since it is the same KJV. But here is the misunderstanding.  The WordSearch KJV Bible is much better because it includes headings.  The Logos KJV does not have any headings and it is harder to read.   Please take the time to compare both KJV texts before making a final decision.   I am making an urgent appeal that this specific WordSearch KJV Bible will also be transferred to Logos since it is part of the WordSearch Library.  Logos Bible Software has only one KJV and it does not include any headings whatsoever.  This WordSearch KJV Bible makes a great reading and study Bible and would be an asset for the Logos Library.  Please prayerfully consider this urgent and special request.  Here is the information:

WordSearch KJV Number:  005619461

https://app.wordsearchbible.lifeway.com/library/title/005619461 Here is my original request:
I have been reading and studying from the KJV in WordSearch and it is truly an amazing tool, especially with the headings (see below for an example). I know you are transferring all the titles over to Logos Bible Software, however, I heard that this specific KJV Bible from WordSearch will not be transferred over. Currently, Logos has only one KJV Bible and it does not include ANY headings at all.  In fact, it is harder to read without the headings/subheadings.  The WordSearch KJV would be an asset to Logos and a valuable resource.   I was hoping to see this WordSearch KJV Bible transferred to Logos because it would be very beneficial to many. Is there a way to escalate this urgent and special request?   It would greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way to purchase a PDF WordSearch KJV Bible with this format? I don't want to lose access to use this specific KJV from the WordSearch website.   How can you help me with this problem?
Thank you. Sincerely, Curtis PS:  Here is the specific WordSearch KJV Bible info below.   WordSearch KJV Number:  005619461 Link:  .https://app.wordsearchbible.lifeway.com/library/title/005619461.

Actually Logos has several KJV (it's difficult to produce the KJV), but those named KJV don't include headings, as far as I've seen. Your headings look very similar to those contained in Webster's edition of the KJV (which seems to have the very same text as KJV, looking through Gen 1-3)

Hi Curtis:

I can only offer a kludge, but see https://community.logos.com/forums/p/183308/1060779.aspx#1060779 and following replies on how to force a KJV edition into NRSV pericope boundaries and headings. (Note the additional info about compiling as a 'Bible Harmony'.) If it's important enough to you, you can edit the headings themselves (easy, but time-consuming) and/or the actual boundaries (with risk of accidentally leaving something out). This will work only on the desktop app, not phones, tablets, or the web app.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for your help and suggestions.  They are very helpful.

It's interesting... I can purchase printed KJV Bibles that include periscopes (ie: The Open Bible, The KJV Study Bible, etc.).

Yet, in the Logos library, I haven't found a KJV Bible with the periscopes.

I am also a member of WordSearch (Lifeway) Bible program and they are in the process of transferring their library to Logos.  Unfortunately, they informed me that since Logos already has a KJV Bible, they don't need the WordSearch KJV Bible.

I have been trying to let them know that the WordSearch KJV Bible includes periscopes (headings/subheadings) which makes it easier to read.

This WordSearch KJV Bible makes a great reading and study Bible and would be an asset for the Logos Library.  Please prayerfully consider this urgent and special request.  Here is the information:

https://app.wordsearchbible.lifeway.com/library/title/005619461 I was able to connect The Outline Bible by Harold Willington (https://www.logos.com/product/1765/the-outline-bible) with the the Logos KJV but when you look at the KJV, it's still harder to read without the headings/subheadings and spacing. This is why I like the WordSearch KJV that includes all of that.  And all Logos has to do is transfer it over since they own WordSearch (Lifeway) digital products. See attachments of my screen shot of Logos with The Bible Outline and the WordSearch KJV Bible.   Thanks.

The New King James version contains pericopes (note the spelling). But pericope divisions and headings are not common in the KJV translation lineage.

I agree with you Curtis that FL should bring across the product you purchased from WS to their environment. It is either a failure on their part to understand the unique features of the product or if they were aware of it then a decision on their behalf that you do not need those heading. if that is the case it is not a way to be warm and welcoming to new customers.

Regardless though of what anyone thinks and the helpful but less than satisfying work arounds they have suggested you should have access in FL to what you paid for is the bottom line. But none of us can influence that in a way to make it happen. You need to email these CEO, bob@logos.com , to raise your concerns with someone that has influence.

And HERE WE GO!

Curtis, based upon your post count you may be rather new to the Faithlife Forums, so I do not want this to come across as a "scolding". There are currently 2 different threads (1 has been recently locked) where users are debating what is/isn't a "theological discussion". I do not offer this as an invitation to debate, because we are unlikely to convince the other. But simply as an example that there are contrary views within the group of forum users.

The link that you posted supports views of bibliology, some of which are challenged in the Faithlife resource https://faithlifetv.com/items/621210.

I am intentionally NOT declaring a position. Just exposing the diversity of opinions.

Hi David,

Yes, I am new to the Faithlife Forums and I am grateful to hear from you.  =)

There is a thread titled: "Forum for discussions on theology" that is currently locked.  I did not start that thread, nor did I involve myself with that topic.  I just wanted to know how and why it got locked.

As for the KJV vs. other Bible versions, I am still prayerfully studying this fascinating topic, especially since it involves omitting Jesus' own words in Luke 4:4 and Luke 4:8 and many other passages of Scripture.

Thank you for sharing the link you provided.  I will also add this to my study library.

Blessings,

Curtis

  • When individuals make forum posts that are contrary to the guidelines, anyone in the forums can politely ask them to stay within the guidelines. The poster of the offensive post's response usually is the end of the matter.
  • When individuals makes forum posts that are outrageously contrary to the guidelines (quite rare and usually unknown trolls) or individuals continue to make posts contrary to the guidelines one of three things may happen:
    • anyone in the forums may report the offending posts to Faithlife via the option on the upper right.
      • Faithlife may simply deem the post/thread as not requiring their involvement
      • Faithlife may contact the poster behind the scenes which may result in anything between a friendly chat, an editing of the original post, to a short suspension of access to the forums
      • Faithlife may take visible action such as a public warning on the thread that it is going off the rails to a locking of the thread.
    • the person who started the thread may contact Faithlife through the report abuse and ask that the thread be locked
  • Faithlife tries to use a very light hand in intervening but they are the only ones who can. The other path is for deletion, in which you are never aware of the post -- trolls are often picked up as spam or reported as spam and slide into spam oblivion.

I am in agreement with the request to make the KJV WordSearch (WS) available. There is an examination edition but the KJV that was available in WS had a toggle to move from paragraph to verse mode. As the sample shows this is not available. At first glimps is seems that Logos is "anti" KJV. That would be tragic if that is true.

Jerry, welcome to the forums.

Look at the three circles in a triangle icon (Visual Filters icon) on the KJV (Wordsearch version) resource panel. Under the Resource menu you will see a Bible Text Only option with options under that. These are formatting options you can use to change the text into something like you'd like to have.

Since Faithlife offers a number of KJV texts, you should be able to find another one that shows the text in paragraph format without the Wordsearch headings that you could also change back and forth from paragraph to verse by verse format.

I agree with the need to transfer the WORDsearch KJV to Logos, unless Logos will put the pericopes in the KJV 1900 version. I have always liked that about the WORDsearch version of the KJV. On occasion I would use the WORDsearch app to see the KJV with the pericopes. Maybe toggelable pericopes in Logos KJV 1900 version is the real and simpler answer?
