Word search repeated words

I was thinking that a cool feature would be to highlight the repeated words in a passage. Words that are repeated in a passage are usually significant.  In john 15 the word abide is used many times. The greek word meno is used even more times; sometimes it is translated remain or continue. Obviously some kind of filter would need to be used to remove conjuctions and the defenite article. Perhaps this could be made available for the passage guide and/or the exegetical guide. I know that this can be done manually through the visual filter.

    Hi Stephen

When I first read your post I thought you were talking about repeating words in a single verse, not a passage.

To find them within a verse you can use a Syntax Search such as the one below:

Looking at a passage - within the Passage Guide - the "Interesting words" section would seem to go some way towards what you are looking for.

Taking John 15 (the passage you referred to) results in:

    image

This would indicate that "abide" is a common word in this passage - as it "hates"!

Clicking on the Greek button gives you the equivalent information in Greek.

For more information on "Interesting Words" please see http://community.logos.com/forums/p/5188/41158.aspx#41158

I know this doesn't give you exactly what you were asking for but hopefully its a help

I don't quite remember how I end up in this page. But anyway, I know there is an online repeated word tool which helps highlighting the repeated words in a passage. For example, in John 15, not only it highlighted the word, "abide", but also highlighted a set of multiple repeated words, "if" & "abide" & "in".

Not totally sure if this feature is useful. But if useful, why not include in logos?

Welcome to the forums, Tom. The URL looks interesting. In Logos one can do something similar in a multi-step process.

Note: you have to choose the repeated words you wish to see which you can do from Interesting words.

    1. create a visual filter

2 . list the words you want highlighted

    3. choose a highlight
