We just pushed out a major update to the content and metadata for the Early Church Fathers (both Protestant and Catholic Editions):
Improved Author and Work Metadata
We’ve added the names of the Church Fathers themselves to the author fields for each volume and added work titles to the resource descriptions, so that both can be easily located via Library. For instance, entering “author:Augustine Enchiridion” will get you quickly to NPNF1:3, where Augustine’s Enchiridion on Faith, Hope and Love can be found.
Publication and Citation Information
Publication and citation data now accurately reflects the print originals, which were used in preparing (soon to be released) corrected and updated files.
Ante-Nicene Fathers, Volume 10 / 9
We are changing the volume number of our current volume 10 (containing The Gospel of Peter, The Diatessaron, etc.) to volume 9, to reflect the more common numbering of this volume.
Our old numbering reflects the order of publication, since this volume was originally published after the index volume (not included in the Logos edition, but commonly called volume 10 in reprints). However, Logos’s numbering was idiosyncratic. The index volume was originally unnumbered and volume 9 was published from the beginning as volume 9. To eliminate confusion and better reflect the print original, we are adopting the common numbering.
Updated and Improved Resource Files
We've updated the resources with:
· Improved formatting and text quality (restoring missing text in some cases)
· Tens of thousands of references tagged
· Heading fields
· Author and work citation data
Note that this update might cause some disruption of notes and highlighting, since some of the text required major changes. We’ve attempted to minimize this, and based on some spot checking of hundreds of my own highlights, I think problems should be minimal.
These updates should download automatically for owners of the Early Church Fathers next time Logos 4 is opened.
Enjoy!
OOOOHHH !
Hi Louis
That's a lot of work!
Appreciated, Graham
This is great. Thanks for making this valuable resource easier to use and updating the links so we can make better use of our libraries.

Thank you! This is most welcome.
Does this mean that links to the ECF will now open whichever version the user owns (or has prioritized), and that we no longer have to provide two links for every reference in e g Reading Lists?
I hope you had time to catch all the typos I reported just a week or so ago. I don't remember what it was right now, but it was some systematic error that occurred again and again just a few sentences apart. Or was that in the Summa? No, I think it was the ECF. Probably Augustine.

Thanks from me too. Your commitment to existing resources in addition to pushing out so many new ones is much appreciated.

This update doesn't specifically address this limitation, but for locations covered by a specific (i.e. not just page) data type, it is already the case that you can accomplish this by using the "logosref" protocol instead of "logosres". e.g.; logosref:Augustine.De_civ._Dei_12 will take you to City of God 12 in any resource that contains that location.
We're working on a possible solution for page references as well, but it is not yet ready for deployment.

The quality of the old files was such that it required a systematic comparison with the print in addition to correcting user-reported typos to bring the text up to our current standards for accuracy. This process was probably completed before you reported these errors in the old files, but (hopefully) it should have caught them of itself.
However, realism tells me that once errors are introduced on the scale they were present in these files, they're surprisingly difficult to comprehensively smoke out, so we will be continuing to monitor typo reports on these resources and will address remaining problems in future updates.
This represents a real improvement, the formatting is much better all round and the hyperlinking is superb, for instance references to the Iliad just pop up and can be jumped to at will. This is everything an electronic resource should be and it really rewards having a completely Logos librray rather than picking and choosing formats.
I am really grateful for this advance and look forward to similiar treatements to the huge Logos back catalogue. In the long run I think that it will make money for Logos as people move more fully to an integrated Logos library.
thanks for this update
Thank you very much indeed for this, Louis.
It is much appreciated.
Thank you !

Thank you! I wonder if this will mean needing to revisit the various TOCs/Indexes to ECF that people have made (Early Church Fathers Table of Contents, et al.), though it seems the need for them will be less acute now that you can navigate directly to Augustine's Enchiridion, for example. But the complete TOC is still nice for easier browsing.

Dear Logos! *smile* Thank you so very much! Indeed! You truly stick with your customers! Peace to all!
Philippians 4: 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand..........
this is cool! ECF was one of my early "big/neat purchases"--but I could never figure out how to use it well. With the better e-structure, I look forward to putting it to use!
This will be so useful. I have looked at things in the Early Church Fathers, but found it difficult, to see who the author of the work I was reading was. At times it wasn't so bad if that volume was all the work of one author (ex: Augustine of Hippo) but most times I had to check the TOC. Thanks for making this resource more useful in the study of church history.
Blessings,
Philana

You all work very very hard. I (we) love all these improvements. thank you!
I like Apples. Especially Honeycrisp.
When will this show up on iOS devices? Mine still show the old numbering system. Thanks.

I believe updates to resources on the mobile platform are auto-deployed on Thursday mornings...but I'm just going by memory...
