Web Page Items and Full Screen Video
After the implementation of our Web Page service item, there has been some call for an explanation as to how streaming video from various sites can be displayed.
Most streaming video sites allow users to customize video playback by manipulating the URL used to view that video.
First, I'll list the URL in standard format displayed for that site, then the formatting of the full screen video version and finally an example of a URL formatted correctly to display a full screen video by default.

Installing Flash:
You may experience an issue where you are told you need Flash to play the video, even if you have Flash installed already (especially on Windows). Some browsers, like Google Chrome, include a version of Flash that is only usable from inside of Chrome.
Navigate to http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ and select your OS platform. There is only one version for Mac OS X but for Windows select "Other Browsers".
Once Flash is installed you should be able to play Flash content from inside Proclaim.
Known Issues:
- Full screen YouTube videos (using the format http//www.youtube.com/v/[video ID]) do not work on Windows. Full screen Vimeo does work.
- If on a Windows machine, you can insert a normal format YouTube video (using the format http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=[video ID]) and manually take it to full screen. Note that this will go full screen in your primary monitor (which may not necessarily be the monitor you currently have your slide output set to).

Wow, thanks. That offers a whole lot of opportunities. We usually have a slide "what's happening next week" and we can add the link to our website into that.
About adding youtube videos into the presentation: Do you know how I can make it autoplay?

The full screen mode (i.e. http://www.youtube.com/v/qEeUaNeQG50) does not seem to work for me. No video is displayed. If I used the autoplay parameter as well, it will start playing the video but there is audio only. System is Windows 7 Ultimate and Home Premium.

Turns out that none of these work u nless you make the projector the primary monitor. Once I did that I was able to get full screen on these videos. Not the most ideal solution and hopefully the guys at Logos can figure this one out, but it works for now.

This does not work... I have the Enable Autoplay exactly as presented here... all I get is a grainy youtube logo...if it is still uploading there is no indication of that.

The YouTube logo is the favicon from the Youtube site. That's all you'll see under edit and preview. When you go on-air, the actual website will load in your on-air window only.
I believe this was done for several reasons. The main one was to avoid having to choose whether to 1) show possibly out-of-date content in the preview/edit screens when not on-air or else 2) constantly refresh the preview/edit screen with web content, chewing up lots of system resources as well as bandwidth. (Imagine a presentation with numerous web service items!)
Also, it should help with usability, not leaving open the question of which screen to click on when you wish to interact with a website (clicking on links, etc.) during the presentation.

Thanks for that clarification. I would never have tried to go ON AIR if the preview wasn't working! I downloaded the youtube video via another program and now have it loaded up that way. Thanks for the info.

We're able to get fullscreen from Vimeo, but don't like that it won't auto-play.
OTOH, the fullscreen links from YouTube are not working for us. The audio plays, but no video.
We use the projectors as an extended desktop.

Hi Michael. Could you tell me which operating system you are using, and also which version of Proclaim you are running (you can find this under "Help - About Proclaim", it's the number that looks like 1.06.0.0522). Thanks!

Michael, currently there is a known issue in Proclaim where full screen YouTube videos do not work on Windows computers. I have added some notes regarding this to the first post of this thread, under "Known Issues". Development is aware of the issue, and there is an active case for this problem.
I will assume you are on a Windows machine, and that is why you are seeing this problem. If you are not on a Windows machine, please let us know and we can dig into this further. Thank you.

I am a big fan of Proclaim. I use it with my youth group using my Mac and with the congregation with our church's Windows machine. It is really frustrating that I can link YouTube videos in Youth, but have to drag a window during regular Worship services when we want to show a video.
Can we expect some resolution of this "known issue" soon? Thanks a million for your hard work on this great product.

Just got YouTube to work under Windows 7 on Monitor 2 extended desktop using the Pop-out URL.
1) Right Click on the Video.
2) Select Pop Out from the Context Menu
3) Highlight and Copy the URL in the pop out window
4) Paste into Proclaim
FYI I use Chrome as my web browser.

The ability to play You Tube Videos has not yet been completely worked out as of yet as far as I can tell. We have been waiting for this feature along with dvd playback for quite some time now. Almost a year. I'm not sure what the latest status is. I haven't seen any recent updates. They did make it so that you can at least see a You Tube 'Page' and allow the video to play on the 'Page' but not a clean "Full Screen" On Air Video. Definitely not in Windows at least. We've been forced to download the You Tube Videos and convert them to mp4 and then run them as a video slide as a work around.

The intent is to paste in the Web Address field of the Web Page item.
I attempted this method using: https://www.youtube.com/tv?vq=medium#/watch?v=g10jFL423ho&mode=transport&autoplay=1
I added the autoplay command, but it seems non-functional. The player shows with the title, etc., but no video.
We use Windows 7, Chrome, and a three monitor configuration and extended desktop layout with the number three "projection" monitor sitting over the right number two monitor. Our settings show Monitor Setup configured so that Application is on 2 and Slides are on 3.

Brian Muh's instructions are not working for me either with a Mac and pasting from Chrome. However if I use exact same instructions using Safari it does work.

I have discovered a method that does work on Windows (I'm using Windows 8). If you have a browser that supports html 5 (all of the latest versions of the major browsers do), then use the following:
http://www.youtube.com/v/{video ID}?html5=1&autoplay=1ex. http://www.youtube.com/v/mU1Ciusb4xI?html5=1&autoplay=1
This will force the browser to use the html 5 player instead of flash. Enjoy

The trick with YouTube is that it's going to be a moving target. For instance the technique I used before no longer works. Can we update the original post to the new YouTube format?
Here's the Current format for full screen with auto-play

Note that /v/ is now embed and that instead of "&autoplay=1" it's now "?autoplay=1"
Currently using windows 8 64-bit. New computer vs the last post.

I was able to get an almost full screen video by using the format below:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/8pfLWxoSVNk
I copied the normal format http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8pfLWxoSVNk then replaced the watch?v= to embed/
You are about to stop and pause the video as you please.

Thanks Hunter for me it all works very fine with your links. I have played around this a little more and discovered that in Youtube one can get rid of the related videos in the end by simply adding: &rel=0 .
Then in Vimeo it is also possible to use autoplay by adding: ?autoplay=1 .

Using online videos is just so cumbersome in Proclaim that I download as an mp4 on my computer and then upload it as a video item. Work, yes, but in the long run I find it simpler to do than mess with all of the above workarounds.

After all of these years this is still a problem? Really? What is taking so long to fix this basic issue that has been in these forums since the inception of Logos? Why is this such a problem for Proclaim? None of the other major presentation programs seem to have this problem.
