Sometimes, however, there are errors with the app that, due to the nature of the error that occurs, do not make it into the application's log files. Fortunately, these messages are typically logged to the operating system's Console Messages. Below I've outlined the steps to save these to a log file which can be uploaded to this forum (uploading is covered in Tom's original post above).
- Open the "Console" application (type "Console" into Spotlight or look for it inside the Utilities sub-directory in Applications)
- Click the item in the left panel labeled "Console Messages"
- Go to File -> Save a Copy As...
- Choose a location on disk (e.g. your Desktop) where you'd like to save the file.
- Upload it using Tom's instructions, linked above.
There have been two bugs reported already this afternoon against Alpha 6 for which there was little or no helpful information in the Logos4.log but there WAS an entry in the Console Messages that identified the specific issue straightaway.
So, when uploading logs, grabbing the Console Messages as described above, in addition to the Logos4 logs, will be very helpful.
