I have created a secret Faithlife group for beta users who would like to voluntarily share notes with that group (including several developers) in order to troubleshoot some of these more difficult to repro bugs.

Want an invite to join? Post here or email me and I will send you an invite.

Once in the group, make a copy of your note, edit the content for privacy, verify that the bug still occurs, then publish the note to the "Notes Test (Logos 5.1 Beta)" group.

When the note is published, post a message to the group to explain your bug/platform/etc.

I have a note with a table in it. Each week I copy the note into a new note file and I fill in the table with the metadata for my PB sermons.

That worked until one of the recent beta updates. Now I cannot edit the table.

Eleanor, I regret to inform you that tables are not editable in the new editor. They should still paste in and old notes will not lose them but you currently cannot change the contents.

I am unsure if there are plans to allow that in the future or not, but I will bring it up to the powers that be.

There is soms strange behaviour in numbering. Numbers and text are without spacing.

I believe there is a case for this happening on very long lists (100+ items). I will amend the case to indicate it can happen with only 10 items. Thanks.

Alan- another forum member is complaining because his typeface changed when he updated from the latest stable to RC1. Am I right that this is due to the new note editor?

Not entirely. It has more to do with collapsed view for a note document than the editor itself. In fact, when editing the note the typeface is correct.

I am not sure if faithlife has taken off ... taking the discussion of of the public domain has its limitations in those of us who do not use social media like that cannot see what is happening, and I see that this thread was started a month ago.

Either way, I will post two screen shots here that relate to a formatting issue (and possibly underlying data structure).

The same note snippet is shown, one at 9pt (looks fine) and then changing the font to 10pt. They were changed simply by highlighting and using the font size drop-down menu on the editor.

9 pt:

10 pt:

There is no reason (AFAIK) for the 'cleansed her' to move down to the next row when there is room enough on the row above. It is possibly more than a coincidence that the words 'cleansed her' (and onwards) came though copying from the ESV whilst the preceding text was my typing.

In pasting, are there markers or style changes put down from the source? I tried to 'apply the default' formatting to the whole sentence, but this does not seem to have removed any source text formatting, and seems to have highlighted a separate issue relating to exactly what is the default font size.

The FaithLife group is merely a conduit for sharing the note document with myself or other developers so we can see exactly what you are seeing in hopes of more clearly reproducing the issues facing you with the new editor. The discussion still happens here on the forums.

Interesting. This may be one of those cases described above where having your note may help as I have never seen this personally despite changing font sizes many times. If you join the group and share your document, I'll take a look on Monday when I'm in the office.

Yes. When pasting, we try to maintain as much formatting information from the source as possible. It's possible that is part of this issue, but it's hard to say just from the screenshots.

Found it :-) .... took a while though ... on the iPad, when you search for a group, if there is more than two 'drop-down lists' of options, it seems to select from the second list rather than allowing further scrolling to the third or fourth list.

Now ... how to share that note with the group ???

I cannot see a share button, a context menu entry or anything in L5Mac that would send the note to the group. Am I missing something obvious? There is a link to 'manage document sharing' but that just displays the entire notebook in Safari using documents.logos.com I cannot see any 'management' there, only seeing what I can see in L5, but through Safari! 9I hope my entire notes document is not now public!)

Anybody able to help out here ... how do I share a particular note within a notes document with a faithlife group?

I have created a new document and dragged the note that I wanted to share across.

I have now managed to 'publish' it ... it just seems so complex ... and I was not expecting to either have to share an entire document, and then to have to go outside of L5 to share it with a logos.com system!

Still, I have not used Faithlife for 7 months ... and it still seems broken even now (post a sentence from a resource and get four unrelated sentences added to your post for free!) ... is it still being developed I wonder?

Thanks for your diligence through the process of getting that note posted.

I will take a look at it first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully, the issue will be obvious when I can take a look at the underlying data in the note. It not, I may need a more detailed description of the steps you took to reproduce the issue.

Out of curiosity, is this a repeatable case for you? Does the line wrap properly after changing the width of the editor?

Hi Alan.

I have created a new note on my Pad. When it went to the desktop it appeared as 10pt. Pasting text appeared at 12pt. I have a fuller (more waffle narrative) within the text itself, but the bottom line was highlighting all the text (mine and pasted) and setting it to a small font size seemed to work, but the simply changing the font size upwards, one point at a time, for the same text, got to the point where suddenly an unexpected line break occurred in the display, corresponding to the end of the pasted text.

In changing the width of the editor, in the original case, it is behaving as if each word in the pasted section has a 'keep with next word' format; that is to say, it will move onto the correct line only when there is sufficient room for the whole sentence.

I have managed to repeat the issue (or similar), but I have not used the same text so the quote lengths are different. Below you will see two screen shots. The first is one editor width, then second is one 'notch' down in editor width. Notice that there is now a big line break. The word 'Pasted' is the start of my resuming to type, or the end of the pasted text.

I pulled up your note that you shared on Windows and it seemed to wrap properly. I also looked at the underlying data in the note and didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Does the improper line wrapping persist when you close/reopen the note document?

Yes and no (!!!) ... If I resize the panel so that it is showing improper formatting, close the document and then re-open the document ... the formatting looks OK. However, moving the panel size immediately breaks it again.

No. This is also happening from desktop created documents.I have played around this morning, and the shared document has the narrative ... the bottom line is that I believe that it os the rendering engine not the underlying data.

There seems to be a problem with the title display box size (See shot below)
The break shown in the bottom image is not immediately after the pasted text ...

Hi, Alan. Thanks for bringing it up with with the development team.

Fully functional tables were a big help in the old notes editor. Since the development of the sermon index system for personal books, I had been using tables regularly in sermon-preparation notes. Being able to create and edit my PB sermon meta-data table within Logos meant that I could do a great deal of sermon preparation without switching back and forth with my word processor. It is still possible to do that without editable tables, but it is not nearly as elegant or conventient.

My primary frustration is that the Notes Editor automatically scrolls up and highlights about a paragraph worth of notes when I single click within a note. This is a huge frustration for me!
