Firstly, try to restore the quarantined/deleted files from Trend Micro (if it allows you to do that).
If not, go to Control Panel > Uninstall or change a program, find Logos Bible Software 5 in the list, right-click it, and choose Repair. This should restore the files that Trend Micro deleted. You may need to temporarily disable Trend Micro, or exclude the Logos folders from virus scanning for this to succeed.

I downloaded this release and Logos stopped working. Then I tried to the "repair" option you mentioned, and now the program will not even open! Please help!

I had the same problem today and was able to get Logos up and running by restoring the HEU_AEGISCS701 file to the program.

Mike, you were not previously on the current beta were you? IF this is the case you may need to re-install the program.
Either way,- please create a new thread,
- explain what happened,
- enable Logging ( http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging ) and
- upload your logs ( http://wiki.logos.com/Uploading_Logs ) so we can take a look.

I am sorry for my ignorance, Thomas, but I do not understand your post. This morning I turned on Logos, the program told me there was an update, and I downloaded it and tried to install it. I got a message saying the program failed to update, and from then on it will not open at all. I am not subscribed to any beta updates. I saw this thread and hoped to find a quick solution to my problem. I also don't understand why Logos would release an update that they know will crash the program. I am not very proficient at the forums just looking for some help. Thanks for responding and God Bless!

Do you mean that you don't know how to attach a log file to the thread? In the formatting pallet, there is a paperclip icon. That will bring up a menu to add a file. Please, however, create a new thread like Thomas recommended. It helps to have "one conversation at a time."

I updated my Logos 5 this morning to 5.0b Service Release 4 (5.0.2.0755) successfully.
However, for some strange reason I had to start my Logos offline. Which I did ... successfully.
Now, however (and I'm somewhat embarrassed as a long-term Logos Bible Software User! *smile* ) ..... I don't know how to get back "online"!
My "sync" is not spinning, and I get this message when I try to update .... (I know there are no updates for me, but I'd like to reset my Logos 5, please!) I do not want to work offline .... please! *smile*

We won't know what is going on until we can "look under the hood." Just because you are having similar difficulties to another user does not mean you both have the same problem… which is why we need to look at logs. You will need to enable this first, since it is turned off by default. There are instructions for both Mac and Pc in the links in my signature line below these comments.

Restart the program. If it won't go online automatically, then there is some issue that needs to be addressed.

Thanks for your reply. I read your message on log files for Windows, but if I understand correctly, you must be able to access the program. I cannot even bring Logos up to do anything at all. It will not open at all.

You don't need to access the program, otherwise getting logs would be difficult if you can't start the app... [;)]
Did you press and hold the control key immediately upon startup? Or when you write that you can't open the program at all, do you mean you click and click and click but nothing happens (not even a crash)?

Try downloading the engine manually and installing it that way. There is a link in the very first post in this thread.

I CAN get the sign-in box, but it always takes me to an offline situation. There's no provision in the sign-in box for online usage....

I was able to upload the newest changes with no problems. BTW: I was already drinking my coffee when I started the update...maybe that was the key...[:)]

Logos downloaded the 5.0b release. When I installed it, I got the Logos logo screen, then a sign-in screen. When I click sign-in, nothing at all happens. Tried closing and starting again. Same thing.

I had exactly the same problem. Also attributable I think, to Trend Antivirus Software. I resolved the problem by "restoring" the machine to an earlier date.

I was running Panda's free antivirus software. I too couldn't get Logos to open. The splash screen would show, then disappear and nothing would happen. I turned off Panda, repaired the program (via the uninstall screen as directed above), and now it works again.
so....it appears that the antivirus programs are not liking something in there. don't they know Bible software can't have viruses? [8-|]
