What happened to dynamic pricing on WBC?

It used to work: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/69623/483972.aspx
I've got most of them, but it is showing me full price.

Me too. Dynamic pricing isn't working. It used to be $50 for me.

WBC is now a Zondervan-published product and is governed by our Zondervan contract, which doesn't allow us to offer dynamic pricing. We're exploring an addendum that would allow us to offer dynamic pricing. But in the meantime we've had to disable it for all Zondervan and Thomas Nelson products.

I know you know this, but that's incredibly short-sighted on their part. They gain nothing, and miss out on sales. (Turning off Read Aloud, and not getting properly involved in PrePub is just as bad.)

Wow, the more I learn about Zondervan, the less I like them.

I have long since decided to go with other publishers and sets or individual volumes from other sets.

Three of Zondervan's bundles are high on my wishlist, but I keep going with other products instead. Some of the bundles are not updated to include the most recent versions of their offered works (Expositor's Bible Commentary).
Additionally, the lack of dynamic pricing is forcing me into ONLY purchasing bundles of theirs. I will not purchase the individual resources at all because I don't want to pay for anything again.
So, those resources languish on my wishlist until the obsolete portions of the bundles become removed/replaced, and even then I will NOT purchase collections like the counterpoint series separately as long as dynamic pricing is not offered. In fact, the combination of these two things will likely prevent me from purchasing their largest bundle altogether, as I have backed the new version of New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis (5 vols.) on pre-pub.

Let's not take this out on Zondervan. That doesn't help anyone. It's our oversight for not getting this worked into the contract. We're working on a resolution.

Let's be honest Phil,
Z is usually one of the publishers with policies of this sort. I absolutely know there is a lot of information I don't have - but from a consumer perspective, Zondervan is not the most liberal with their licensing agreements.

FWIW Phil it seems like you've been a lot more visible on the forums lately, and I for one appreciate that

Yeah I do have pre-pub ordered that one from Logos though. The only other big purchase I've made was the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary Old Testament:

Thanks. I love being in here, but I'm not always able to make the time for it. Thanks for the encouragement to drop by a little more often.

Has anything been worked out in the last two years?
I just bought my first two WBC volumes, and noticed that dynamic pricing is not enabled.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Zondervan have had some cracking sales on Logos recently, really good prices.

The last time the WBC was on sale was September 2015 (for 9.99/volume). I didn't even own Logos back then, so I've got to wait for that sale to come around again.
I wish the publisher sales weren't so infrequent, since we all, whether new or a long-time users, have items on our wish list we'd like to add to our library.

Since its now a Zondervan product I wouldn't hold your breathe waiting for a sale.

It will come again... when I do not know... good deals on WBC use to show up every other year... I would suspect it may come along as often under zondervan. This is a hope.... there is no guarantee..and before the last sale a major price increase was announced so we will never likely see an under $500 price.. but we may well see one down to the $9.95 a volume price again but like i said probably not till late 2017...

Has any progress been made on this in the last two years?
The lack of dynamic pricing not only penalizes everyone who has bought (or wanted to buy) volumes from this collection, it also hurts sales of Mobile Ed courses.
- Dr. Evans makes heavy use of his own WBC commentary for Mark in his NT318 Mobile Ed course.
- OT317 Judges is in a similar situation. Dr. Block's course happens to link to his WBC Judges commentary 114 times, which represents over 20% of the course material!
Since Faithlife wants to be committed to people receiving a good education through programs such as the church Mobile Ed offerings, they need to address obstacles (such as lack of dynamic pricing) which hinder members from acquiring specific resources for their library.

Hi Petah,
Does Dr Block have a WBC commentary on Judges? Mine is by Trent C. Butler; I have Block's New American Commentary on Judges/Ruth.
I was surprised to note that you have access to OT317. Are you a beta tester?
I completely agree with you that the current lack of dynamic pricing on WBC products is problematic. Apparently Zondervan has a track record of contractual inflexibility. I'm grateful that FL is trying to persuade Z to move their position and hope for a successful outcome.

No he doesn't, my mistake on the authorship!
FL published the resources spreadsheet for OT317 last week. That's where I got the link counts for all the commentaries that Dr. Block uses in his course.
As much as I value what these scholars are able to teach through the Mobile Ed program, it is frustrating to try to resolve problems after the fact. I wouldn't mind being a M.Ed beta tester, just to be able to get issues fixed before a pre-order ships -- it would certainly save FL time and money, and improve customer satisfaction.

A volume was pulled from the WBC collection. The set now has 61 volumes instead of 62, yet the price of the collection didn't change.
Who sets that bundle price? FL or the publisher?
Is anyone from FL trying to resolve the (lack of) dynamic pricing for this set?

Word Biblical Commentary (WBC), Old and New Testament Set (61 Vols.)
Not sure if Logos will be able to join this sale but I see it on for $599 over at another software site.

Wow. That's cheaper than the $9.99 volume sale that FL offered last year, before I owned Logos.
How is it that other digital bible software companies can offer it at a better price, but FL doesn't participate in the sale? I hope it's not that "pre-pub policy" that's keeping Logos customers from also taking advantage of that price!

This is the company owned by the publisher... they could sell it for $5 if they wanted.... but that said it is only fair to allow other companies to sell it for the same price...

Ah, thanks for educating me about that. I definitely prefer Logos over Olive Tree, but didn't realize that I'd be paying a premium for certain resources once I bought Logos last spring.
