New Feature: Send to Kindle
Note: This feature will be retired on 3/31/16. See this post for details.
What is it?
Link your Kindle account to Logos and send your favorite resources to your mobile device. This gives you more freedom in how you interact with your digital library.
How it works
After linking your Kindle account information with your Logos account, you can send individual books to your Kindle device from the resource panel menu (within the software). All bible references should open in the Lexham English Bible.
A kindle.com email address must be assigned to the account by entering “set kindle to #####@kindle.com” into the command box. Note: You cannot unlink your Kindle account once it has been linked. Please be sure to check your kindle.com address carefully before submitting.
- The Send to Kindle email address must end in kindle.com. You can check the address at Amazon.com > Manage Your Content and Devices > Your Devices.
- Also, you must add “noreply@logos.com” to your Approved Personal Document Email List at Amazon.com > Manage Your Content and Devices > Settings.
- The “Send to Kindle” link is found on the Resource Information tab (i) of each resource (but not Personal Books).
How do I get it?
Send to Kindle Feature is available in all crossgrades and base packages.
For more information, see these 5.3 Beta threads: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/91816.aspx, https://community.logos.com/forums/t/91952.aspx

When I entered the command I was informed that my account was linked but when I tried to send a book to Kindle I see an error message (in red) informing me that there was an "Error connecting to Send to Kindle service."

Could be some server side issues seeing as how the logos.com website is not responding very well right now.
This feature does work for the resources that allow it. If you own a Kindle this is a great feature. I use an iPad so can already read Logos books on that device.

Donn,
The first part of the chain as I understand it relies upon the Logos servers to send the data. With the servers being hammered right now, there may be delays in the internet based "stuff".

I have been looking forward to this. I use an iPad as well but when I go to the beach I would rather take my $59 Kindle than my $600 iPad.
I was concerned that the instructions said once we linked the account it could not be undone. Have I cemented erroneous information to my account?

You can double check your logs to see what kindle address is associated with the account.
I'm planning on running some tests on the "lock in" later but for now I'm positive that CS can fix it if need be.

They can, if needed, but since it isn't something users can do personally, we try to hammer home the point that "make sure it's correct, it's (semi) permanent". [:)]
If you do find out you have an incorrect Kindle email attached, CS can help you with that.

Dylan,
Can we expect at some point that this will be user changeable?

I don't think there are currently plans for that; we want users to stick to a single address, but we do have the support for those who make errors or need to change it for some reason.

No; it's restricted to CS to prevent a malicious person sending the same library to multiple devices.
If you own the @kindle.com email address, you can reassign it to your devices, so there shouldn't be a legitimate need to change it often.

I have the email address correct. It looks like the feature just does not work. I emailed CS but will be patient. I imagine they are slammed today.

I've been using this feature in Beta for a week or so. For me it is such a game changer that I went out and bought the new Kindle Voyage.

awesome... so many times, that I wanted to read a resource on my paperwhite screen.

That makes sense. Thanks for that answer.

Thanks for your patience! The service is up and running again.
No, still not working. It does now appear in my library info window but it does not go through to Kindle. I have tried it with a number of books and nothing goes through. My Kindle account is working as I tried to send a document through via email and it worked fine.

Donn,
Can we take a look at your logs? Please enable Logging (http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging ), send a kindle book and restart, but do not restart Logos until you've moved or uploaded your logs. (Logos rewrites logs when it starts).

Great feature. Almost makes me want a kindle... if only we could get our highlights back into logos... then they'd have me
0 -
Once a book is on Kindle, can highlights there be downloaded/exported as normal on the Kindle?
0 -
Triskal,
Once you put a book on your kindle it behaves precisely like a book on your kindle. So yes, the notes and highlights you create on your kindle are accessible under <kindle>:\documents\my clippings.txt
As well as on the kindle website. https://kindle.amazon.com/your_highlights

Triskal: indeed the highlights can be handled as any normal Kindle highlights.

The send to kindle capacity does not exist for every resource. For the most part it is resources that are available for the mobile platform.
I have found that the implementation is now more hit than miss, but there are still gaps.

I have tried to send several books to Kindle but none end up going through to my Kindle account. Here is the log as I tried to send Spurgeon's "Clue to the Maze" I know my Kindle account is good as I am able to attach a document to an email to the same Kindle address and it works fine.

Except I tried it with My Utmost for His Highest, and it still didn't show (figured I'd try with the example given).

You are successfully sending kindle books.
have you placed the logos address from the first post in your kindle accepted sender's list?

Not sure how helpful that is. As you can see, the option isn't there. I've tried several books, dug through preferences both in Logos and online, and nary a mention of Kindle in sight.
