Jerome as an added step to David's instruction you can add the "Your Account" to your 'Shortcuts" on the "Home Page" by "click and holding" your left mouse button on the "Your account" link then drag it from the help menu to the "Home Page" dropping it on the "Shortcuts" bar. You will have to rename it to something like "My Account" and give it a unique icon (also select the "Show label" option). This is a workaround so you won't have to go to the help menu every time you want to quickly jump to your Faithlife account.

David Taylor Jr:

Jerome Smith:

In Logos 7 I could access "My Account" from the home page.

I have spent some time looking for that feature and cannot find it in Logos 8.

I suggest that access be placed where it has always been in the upper right-hand corner of the home page screen or at least be listed in the drop-down menu under those three vertical dots.

If there is a way to access "My Account" already, I hope someone can share how to do it in Logos 8.

Click on the dot menu on the right side of the screen then click "About Logos" There you will see the following:

Cynthia in Florida:

Hello Graham:  I'm sorry you're frustrated and find workflow to be "broken."  .

I always found that with FL, if you present your frustrations in a clear manner with reasons, they will listen and seek to make changes that make their products better.

when I said click around for a couple of days, I didn't mean it from a perspective of necessity, but more for you to become familiar with the program's changes.

No need to apologise Cynthia

After 20 plus years I know Faithlife's strengths really well, sadly I also know their weaknesses. I have every expectation that they will get this right, I just don't appreciate being told "known issue" "future release" or its not broken because you do it this less intuitive way and you need to watch the video.

Faithlife are where they are today because of long term users who have invested and continue to invest we don't mind new we just don't want broken or missing.

The Home Page has changed the definition of the meaning of the "Saints" section/card. Mind you, the change of meaning doesn't bother me per se ... but the loss of functionality does.

In L7, the sidebar "Saints" was intended solely for the calendar of saints celebrated by a particular church - a short list for Anglicans and Lutherans had their calendars ever been build. The meaning has been changed to be all saints recognized by a particular church/resource.

That may sound picky but the new meaning assumes that the resource is designed in calendar order where the main driving resource in L7 is in alphabetical order. This difference makes it so one no longer sees the multiple saints that may be assigned to a date and that "next" is a meaningless next saint alphabetically.

The new definition of "saints" has distinct advantages for adding additional church calendars which I will try shortly. But it does require a new edition of Saints. Bellingham, WA: Verbum, 2013. that is in calendar order rather than alphabetical.

Required actions for Faithlife to clean this up:

  1. Saints card must have calendar function
  2. "Next" must be limited by date OR multiple saints shown for the date
  3. the resource "Saint" must be revised to work with the new definition of the function of the Saint card/section

In the next few days, I'll build the equivalent to "Saints" for another denomination to see if other issues appear.

The Library "type" item has either changes the meaning of Calendar Devotional OR tagged some resources in error. Calendar devotional previously meant solely "secular calendar"; items indexed by liturgical date could not function as a devotional on the Home Page. However at least these resources are indexed only by liturgical date but are tagged as Calendar Devotions. Therefore, they show up as options for the Daily Devotional on the Dashboard, but if selected do absolutely nothing.

My preferred solution would be to expand Daily Devotional to include Liturgical Date Devotionals ... there are a number of additional resources that are used in this manner. Until that is accomplished, items that cannot be used on a Daily Devotional card should not be listed as options.

Thank you David. I will be looking forward to cleaning it up again. Don

I would like to be able to schedule resources such as the above on the home page as a Daily Devotional rather than Courses because I would like it to present the reflection appropriate to the date rather than where I last left off.

They only ask fanboys and girls to private beta test and so don’t get honest feedback on whether the software is ready. I used to be a private beta tester but the stopped asking me because I gave honest feedback about things like this and they did not want to hear it.

That is demeaning a number of people you know well from the forums, because the feedback they gave was honest, and passionate at times. And they got equally honest responses... So here we are, and I can safely say that your feedback would not have made any difference to the outcome.

Going forward, I hope that you can provide feedback without getting personal, as 8.1 isn't the end of the line.

Agreed, the fanboy comment was uncalled for. There was plenty of honest feedback, passionate, and even sometimes heated feedback during the beta.

I can tell you that some of what was released today, and some of what will come in the future is a result of the feedback, discussions, and even debates that took place during the Beta. I appreciate the way the FL team solicits and considers feedback from users, as they make development and product decisions.

Why was it moved from where it was, I don’t want to have to take up space on the shortcut bar for something that was on the home page already and was not broken? You claim to have made things easier but this is ridiculous to have to go to these lengths to add your account to the home page.

The new home page appearance is awful.

Why was it moved from where it was,

Because the large resource icon was removed so that the entire tab would take less vertical space - important on smaller screens. So where it was no longer exists. Also moved was the Panel Menu and other indicators that were on the large tab.

I'm in agreement with M.J. that this would be useful and time saving to bring up reflection/devotion based on relevant date.  I believe this was requested in the Logos 8 wish list as well.

There is an edit option on the far right of the Dashboard title line. The equivalent for the Explore section is not yet implemented.

Andrew I've tried this method to create the shortcut on the "Shortcuts Bar", but it doesn't work for me.  When I drag the url over to the shortcut bar and drop it, the shortcut does not appear.  Can you test on your end?
