We are aware of problems with reading plans syncing between iOS and Logos Mac/Windows. The sync problems are caused by the way data is synced between iOS and the desktop apps; it doesn't scale to the amount of data we are now processing. We have been in the process of rearchitecting and reimplementing the way we sync data for about a year so that we can handle our new scalability requirements. We are rolling out these changes, often referred to as Sync v2, over time. Logos Desktop 4.3 used Sync v2 for some things. Logos 4.5 will use it for more, but is not currently spec'd to include reading plans.
We are aiming to use Sync v2 for reading plans by the end of the year.
I recognize that these problems are a source of frustration. I feel bad about that. Our team is working very hard to make it right. For those of you willing to stick it out with us, I appreciate your graciousness. For those of you who are unable to use our tool because of this, I hope we can win you back in the near future.
Dave
I'm with you guys... it's tough, but in spite of the setbacks, you're still the best ones out there! Be praying for you and your team...
Forgive my ignorance. On these forums, I read almost daily about issues with reading plans not sync'ing to the mobile devices. I can't even figure out where a reading plan would show up in the Logos app on my ipad. On the home screen, I see a "Reading Plans" section. But the only entry in it is "Read the Bible in 1 year". Is that where I would expect the reading plans I've created in Logos for Windows to show up if sync'ing were working? The impression I'd gotten from all the messages was that the desktop reading plans were available on the mobile devices but that the progress maintained within them was not being kept in sync between desktop and mobile.
If anyone can clarify that for me a bit, I'd appreciate it. Thanks,
Donnie

Yep. That's it.

What again was it that you didn't understand? If you have a reading plan on your computer and its not on your iPad, you've experienced a sync problem. If your reading plan IS on your iPad but you've run out of readings, you've experienced a sync problem. If you check off readings on your iPad and end up with multiple copies of the reading plan on your computer, you've experienced a sync problem.

So folks have experienced any / all of those issues, each related to sync. My impression from the forum posts was that it was only around the last issue you describe.
Thanks for the explanation,
glad to know you guys are working on it - an explanation reduces the frustration and prepares us to wait patiently for your good work. Thanks a heap and keep up the hard work of making a great product better.
Totally agree with Jerry's post!
Thanks for letting us know! I look forward to the enhancements coming with Sync v2. Especially with the annotation features. I am thankful Logos is willing to keep working on things until they get it right.

Ahhh! I am so glad I don't read the Bible! ha ha,
(just kidding)
Gabe.
Glad to hear that this is a known issue, I pretty much abandoned using the reading plan on my iPad. As it will not update and contains multiple copies that cannot be removed; even though they have been removed on my desktop.
For now I just manually read the books on my iPad, and keep track of where I am. I have to use a competitors product for bible reading plans until Logos gets this working again.

With end of this year quickly approaching, wonder about sync status update ?

Elsewhere Dave has since (this week) reiterated his desire/hope/plan to have it out near the "first of the year." I am sure that a major factor will be the public release of 4.5.

There are four separate pieces to the puzzle. Not all of them will be ready by the end of the year, so it won't roll out in a stable release by then. It will be in testing though.

Thankful for update; looking forward to stable release when all puzzle pieces are ready. Wonder about postponing New Year's resolution for reading plan(s) ?
It's like waiting for Christmas all over again isn't it

And we may see it by then.

My problem with all of this is that Logos continues to promote their reading plans and advertises their products saying that all of your devices can sync. That strikes me as misleading at the very least.

On 5 Jan 2012, Bob Pritchett (Logos CEO) posted a lengthy reply that included reading plan sync => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/5923/321264.aspx#321264
Understand mobile reading plan sync frustration. Logos 4.5 Release Candidate 1 shipped today. If no major bugs, anticipating Logos 4.5 stable release next week along with mobile app updates, including iOS 2.0, but do not know if reading plan sync will be included. Looking forward to syncing Highlighting and Notes between Logos 4.5 and mobile apps very soon.
Same feeling on my side. With the time sync has been broken, I would expect the decency not to widely advertise this feature until it has been fixed and is reliable. Could also trigger some extra motivation, who knows... ;-)
I was going to say that the site for the iPhone and iPad apps includes a note that reading plan sync is currently being fixed. I remember seeing that on there a week or so ago. At the moment, however, it simply says that you can keep up with your reading plans on-the-go. I agree that this is a bit misleading, if not deceptive, since Logos knows the feature is currently broken and has been for some time. A feature that does not work should not be advertised.
