I use this feature constantly, and it hasn't been a problem for me at all. I would say it's improved over v.3, except for the multiple-verses thing which I don't use. Here's what I did: Dragged the Copy Bible Verses icon to my toolbar. I then save it into my major Layouts, so that it always shows on the right side of the screen. It takes up very little real estate, and can be a tab combined with other resources. As a matter of fact, I like the way we can customize the formatting on verses much more easily. I am a writer, and I need one format for books, and another for a daily web devotional that I write. I can quickly select either. The only problem I had was that I got a series of L4 crashes yesterday while trying to edit one of the formats.

I really don't think CBV in the system tray is necessary.

Smart tags are very important to me and the folks in Christian Disciple Makers. We use them for preparing pre-class emails and PowerPoints.

Brothers,

I was finishing up on my sermon Friday in L4 when I notice the absence of the verse list ability. I tried several things, but left my search in frustration.  I had determined to ask about this problem when I came across this thread.  Thank you for the robust discussion and hopefully for the solution soon.  I also use L3's verse copy capabilities and miss such capabilities in L4.  I appreciate this forum!

I've obviously been doing it the hard way in V3.  Could someone explain how "smart tags" work.  I use Word 2003 with V3 all the time and don't know what these are.  Thanks!!!

My "workaround" is use v4 for study, but have v3 open to nothing, then you still can access smart tags and inserting bible verses.  If you have v4 and v3 open at the same time, you need some muscle on you computer.

I was thinking about deleting most of the 3.0 resources except the Bibles. How much would that help 3.0 performance? Will it load quicker.

Hi Philip,

Best thing you can do to help 3.0 performance is NOT to load a workspace & ensure it isn't preloading any notes for you (ensure they're all unchecked in Tools | Options | General | Notes.

Beyond that, AFAIK it's indifferent to what is / isn't on your system.

Blessings, & thanks for all you do for us!

Grace & Peace,
Bill

In WordSearch 9, you can click on a verse and have the entire verse highlighted, then click Ctrl-W and have it pasted into Word (or the built in word processor).  If Logos had a simpler approach I would be able to stay in it for my simple tasks.  Now, I have to shift back and forth between the two Bible software systems.  Logos 4 isn't even as simple for copying verses as e-Sword, a free program.  I like some of the advanced features, but I'm actually sorry I spent so much money to buy Logos 4.  I encourage pastor friends to avoid it.  It's almost as unfriendly as Quickverse.

Hi Michael!  Congrats on your first post!  Sorry you find Logos 4 hard to use.  About copy/pasting: are you aware of the Copy Bible Verses (look under "tools" at the top left of your Logos menu bar, right after File/Guides/Tools.  You can also open it with ctrl+alt+B.  I find it quite easy.

You can choose to copy/paste directly into Word, PowerPoint, OpenOffice, WordPerfect, etc.  Change pericopes on the fly.  Also, you can change your translation that is copied, even if you are working out of a different translation.  It's quite cool.  Look under the F1 help file for more menus.

If you haven't already, I recommend checking out www.logos.com/videos  and perusing those (choose PC version) for very helpful hints on commonly used tools.  also notice the user created videos at the bottom that are helpful with workflow.  Now, the next recommendation is way more expensive than free, but I challenge you to find someone who does not find them worth it--albeit a good chunk of change: Morris Proctor training videos.  You have a very powerful--THE most powerful Bible software in your possession: Moe will help you squeeze so much more out of it.  I don't think you'll feel the same after those.  But first, try all  those free videos on the other link and use this forum.  We'll help you get going.

Dan

I encourage you not to give up.

btw, notice, you can type a verse or pericope in the reference box on the copy bible verses panel (CBV) or search for a verse or range in your bible itself, and CBV can be set up to follow whatever, whereever you are at.  You don't even have to highlight the verses--although you can.

PS.  Take a look at this terrific Wiki article about CBV.  Think it'll help you.  Also shows other shortcuts and formatting.
