Logos automatically downloaded and installed 28.6 Mb of updates, restarted, and did a quick (about 5 minute) index, but in "about Logos" it is still showing SR-6 4.0.3.2984. I've tried restarting Logos, and rebooting my computer, but it doesn't show the update. I've tried the update now command, but it doesn't find any more updates. Any ideas? or is there a way to manually download and install the update? Thanks.

Did you read the Update at the top of Bradley's post?
The download was for the NKJV interlinear.
EDIT: now you've seen the update. It took me a long time to find it.
Bradley, please put it in bold until the release is released....

I did an update, but didn't get the SR-7 update. If it has already been released why haven't I gotten it?

For those wondering where the update is even though it says it is out, read the quote above. Not yet but soon.

Well, I got it. Guess I'm too impatient. Thanks, Logos!

That will cut down on some support calls I'm sure!Bradley Grainger said:Indexer no longer displays Windows Error Reporting dialog when encountering a corrupted resource

After the installation of the NKJV, first index time showed 53 hours 16 minutes. Kind of scary, down to 17 hours in the last few minutes

For those of us who can't wait, is there any difference between "Update Now" and double-clicking the Synchronization icon? Both actions appear to cause the syncing wheel to turn, which I assume means that L4 is checking with the server to see if there's an update...
Thanks!

Bill, I think clicking the sync wheel only causes a manual re-synchronization. I'll bet that doesn't look for an update or instead of using "Update Now" we'd be told to click on that wheel.
Why does it go round and round when checking for an update? Maybe it has a second purpose to indicate online activity?

I'm on my second 28.6mb download... I hope it's SR-7 and it's not re-downloading the first one.

It downloaded and installed without a hitch (4.0.3.3272). Thanks for your hard work, Logos!

I've got it too.

When I opened L4 tonight, I got the NKJV update in a 26.9 MB update. But to get to SR7 I had to force an update. I restarted 3 times, the update icon appeared briefly, but closed in a second without updating. Then I did Update Now and get to SR7.
Bradley, shouldn't this have happened without my intervention?

My update started, downloaded and installed automatically to SR-7 (4.0.3.3272)....no problems at all.

My SR-7 update was downloaded twice. First time it only downloaded and did not automatically install. I closed, then opened Logos 4. The update downloaded again, then prompted "click to install" in a balloon on the toolbar. I clicked, Logos 4 closed down and "install" fired up. When I re-opened Logos 4 it had successfully updated to SR-7.
Any reason I had to manually trigger the update?

Matthew, an update requires an install (Windows installer). A resource update doesn't, just a download and indexing.
If the first one didn't require an install, it was probably the NRSV (?) update and the second was the SR7 update.

WoW! You are right Chris. I didn't know about the NRSV resource update. I just figured the download did not take the first time. Both downloads looked about the same size. Thank you for clarifying that.

Mine is stuck at 0% of a 26.8MB update...I guess I'll leave the PC on tonight, though I think it's stuck...

Matt,
26.8 is a small download. I'd cancel it, close L4, use Task Manager to cancel the Logos4 processes, restart L4, see if it starts the update again, if not, put Update Now in the Command box and try to get it to go.

I have loaded SR7 and it works choice. Thanks Team

My system has downloaded this several times. Logos 4 tries to install, and I get an error message. It cannot read a file.
If I launch Logos 4, the only way to enter the program is to say "No" to question of whether I want to install updates (which will fail anyway). When I try the "update now" command, it appears not to do anything.

David have you tried rebooting the computer? Turn it off manually and then restart. I have found this to cure many of windows problems.

David, that looks like you need admin privileges. I think you need to close Logos and then right click the Icon and choose, run as admin.

I like the "toast." Thanks for the added visual feature.

Is there any way Logos can let us know what we received in our update, especially now as they are releasing new titles with Logos 4. Most every program I have that updates (windows, itunes, etc) allows me to see what was included in the update. I would love to know that I just received the NKJV interlinear so that I could check it out. If I hadn't searched for this in the forums, I wouldn't even know I had received it.

That was it, Thomas. I'm surprised I hadn't thought of that. With the first installation of Logos 4 (under Vista), I never had to do that. This is the first upgrade since installing Windows 7.
This forum is great! Thanks.

I feel like a real clot on this one - I don't understand what people mean by 'toast'! Can someone enlighten me please?

Toast is a little information popup that usually appears above the clock/systemtray.

Ahhhhh! Thanks Thomas. Do you know if there is an easy way of identifying which Bibles have interlinears with them? Or do we simply have to open them up to see? Some indication in the Library panels would be good.

Been asked for a thousand times. I really don't understand the resistance to providing us with this very basic information. I keep an eye on the resource folder... shouldn't have to do this, imho.

I don't think it's resistance, I think it's priorities.
I also really, really want this. But I don't think for a minute that Logos isn't giving this to us because they're resistant to the idea.
I do think they're very, very busy getting my NIV rev int finished. Once they're done with that, I'm sure they'll move to the next item on my priority list for them (which I'll be sure to send as soon as they finish my NIV rev int).

I still think it's resistance. This has been raised one thousand times and not once has anyone come to say, "Yes we realise this is important we will work towards implementing it." Silence on the old newsgroups and on these forums to issues which are frequently raised usually means "Bob says no."
wrt Resource downloads, it's the attitude of "trust us to look after it for you". The very serious problem with this is that no matter how much I trust Bob & co, Logos v4 is a software program - who "trusts" software?
We have seen since release numerous people who have not received the resources they were meant to, there was the time in Beta testing in which I lost a thousand resources over night.... I do NOT trust software. I want to know what is going on.

I still think you're assuming an attitude that is not present. I base my opinion on the attitudes of Logos' personnel (including Bob) in other areas of the development of Logos.

I still don't have the NKJV INterlinear?

Add me to that list of people still longing for more control over resources, the engine and what I am downloading.
For example I have 442 resources in my Library in L4, in the L4 Resources directory are 503 items. One for example is LakeAF.lbsrvi... I assume this is the Apostolic Father interlinear which does not show up in my Library and I have no idea why it is there, if it should be there, if it should be in my library or not... How do I know that I have all the resources I am supposed to have? How about whether or not the files in the Resources directory are even needed or part of my collection...

It would be nice. Every time my engine updates it starts indexing and then downloads an additional 174MB or so of stuff. I think it is Galaxie TJL material which is some kind of bug mentioned a while ago. I can't know for sure as it no longer details what it is updating. I don't have time to try and figure it out at the moment but it is costing Logos bandwidth and they might want to fix it.

Frank,
I can't answer you're whole question, but reverse interlinears don't show up as individual resources. To find out if you have Lake's Apostolic Fathers Reverse Interlinear, open up Lake's Apostolic Fathers in English. If the "interlinear" button is available, you have it! I would guess that a number of the "additional" resources are in fact interlinears.

Whyndell,
Just to be sure, are you looking for an extra resource? The interlinear is a part of the resource itself and is accessed by clicking the "interlinear" button:

David that is my point, I cannot open anything Lake, it doesn't show up in the Library. I don't believe I have Lake AF, but if I am supposed to where is it? If I am not supposed to, why has it downloaded? This is and has been one of the biggest complaints and concerns about the "cloud"

Service Release 7 (SR-7, v4.0.3.3272) was released this evening.
SR-7 installed onto my desktop (WinXP) okay, but the laptop (Win 7 64-bit) doesn't know anything about it.
Tried:
- Update now
- Update resources (did load 26MB)
- Restart Logos 4
- Reboot computer
- Wait 18 hours, and try those again.
Typing "Update now" in the Command box causes the sync. arrows to rotate (next to Layouts, right end of toolbar), but in the end the popup reports, "Synchronization is enabled, and all items are up to date." But the "About Logos Bible Software" still shows this:
I'm logged in as an admin, and the laptop is on the same ADSL connection as the desktop. (It has been in a corporate environment with proxies, but I've reset it back to No Proxies again in Control Panel | Internet Options.)
Any suggestions?

Allen,
In your Win7 Logos4, have you checked your Tools-Settings-Program Settings to make sure you're allowing Internet Updates? To make sure you've got "Yes" checked off on the first line, "Automatically Download Internet Updates"?
Not that I discovered this from personal experience, mind you!! {::wide-eyed innocent look::} [:O]
