Resource Links to the Wrong Edition of Daniel Wallace?

I have a book by Fredrick Long called Kairos: A Beginning Greek Grammar (LLS:KAIROSGRAM). It frequently references and links to Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics by Daniel Wallace, which I also own. When I click on any of the links that should open Wallace's grammar from Long's grammar, Logos opens a tab stating I do not have a license to view the resource, and it tells me the resource ID I do not have a license to view is LLS:GS_GGBTB. Someone may correct me, but I believe that is the older version of Wallace's grammar that is no longer even available on Logos. My copy of Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics lists the ID as LLS:GRKGRAMBBWALLACE, and I believe that is the current version being sold. If I am correct about this, is there any way Faithlife would consider updating the tagging in Long's grammar so that its links work with the version of Wallace's grammar currently being sold by Logos?

I ran in to the same issue from another linking resource.

Here's what I got from a Faithlife support rep:

"I emailed our Content Production team about this issue, as it looks like GS_GGBTB is an older version of the same resource you do own. They are separate versions (and thus separate resources), and the link is hard-coded to the older one which you don’t own. A case was made for changing this to the newer one, but it was decided that the link will stay as-is for now so as not to break the link for those customers who own the older resource.

"Unfortunately, this is a lose-lose scenario, as the link will be broken for either those with the new resource, or those with the old. I looked into the possibility of unlocking the other resource for you, but as far as I can tell it’s been retired and is no longer available, even internally."

So we are on the unfortunate end of the situation. I remain understanding about the situation from Faithlife's perspective, but it does make our version of Wallace less functional within the Logos ecosystem.

Everything you just said makes sense from Faithlife's perspective.  Do you remember how long ago that was? I would have to find the thread on the forums to be sure, but I was thinking Faithlife had "upgraded" people with the older copy of Wallace to the new one. The page numbers and content are the same except the new version includes the indexes at the back of the book. If Faithlife did in fact do that, then it would now benefit everyone to update the links. Alternatively, it is possible that I am just completely remembering things incorrectly or having a bad case of wishful thinking! [:)]

I would cite this as another failure on the QA and Updating of Logos products. This is not in keeping with what is arguably Logos' main selling point of hyperlinks.

That email was exactly one month ago today.

Then that unfortunately is probably the final answer for now...[:(]

After doing some digging through the forums, it turns out I was NOT remembering things incorrectly, and I was NOT having a bad case of wishful thinking. Faithlife DID in fact state that everyone who had the older edition of Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics would be getting the new version for free. Not sure how to "properly" quote from another thread, but this is from Ray from Faithlife all the way back in 2013:

    "I have news.

All owners of GGBB will receive a free update to the new version."

This being the case, there is really no reason the tagging could not or should not be updated in other resources so that they point the version of Wallace that is currently being offered rather than to a version that is not even available. Faithlife, please comment on whether this will be done at some point. Wallace is one of the most-used intermediate Greek grammars, so it seems this would be worth doing if costs do not prohibit it.

Just for good measure, here is another thread from 2014 where users indicated they did in fact receive the newer version of Wallace. No official post from anyone at Faithlife in the thread, but I am linking it for those following this issue. It sounds like whatever Faithlife rep e-mailed Virgil a month ago was misinformed. Virgil, do you think you could point the rep you communicated with to this thread and see if the "new" evidence might change the verdict?

    Will do.

And done. Let's see what shakes out.

I had the original GS_GGBB (Galaxie) version of GGBB and I now also have the newer GGBB so evidently they did upgrade previous buyers. I would think that eventually they will get around to updating the links to the new version as that is the one they will be supporting from now on.
