Anyone interested in linguistics should also have a look at the Community Pricing page: you can bid now for Ferdinand de Saussure's Cours de linguistique générale.
(I know it's in French, but if you do not know why this is an important work you should really read the wikipedia page on Course in General Linguistics).

I am glad for this collection, just wish a "new to you" feature was available. Individually looking through the collection to discover what would be new to you is a hassle.

Right on - that's a lot of resources to search through to see if it's a worthwhile purchase for moi.
Longtime Logos user (more than $30,000 in purchases) - now a second class user because I won't pay them more every month or year.

Yeah, I saw that! Thanks for pointing it out. It (as well as tons of works dependent upon it) was an important work in some of my earlier studies.
As I placed my bid, I was curious at the likelihood that it will come to fruition.

Indeed. I often wish for this feature, but probably never more than now. I know I have several of these things, but dynamic pricing isn't making a big enough dent. I would at least like to know how much of this -- possibly the most tempting collection yet -- I already have.

Until we get a "new to you" feature we have to resort to calling Sales. I know it is a hassle but this collection is worth it.Lew Worthington said:Kenneth Neighoff said:...just wish a "new to you" feature was available.

Even with dynamic pricing my price is $218.26 and I thought I had a pretty good collection of grammars.

My dynamic price is $55.60 but so far I have found only two I don't have. Guess I will have to email Sales.Bruce Dunning said:Even with dynamic pricing my price is $218.26 and I thought I had a pretty good collection of grammars.

Thanks for sharing the numbers. I only have 19 of these and so the price would be kind of staggering for me. It got me thinking: Maybe these are the only 19 I really need. How many additional Greek or Hebrew grammars do I need? And as cool as it would be to learn Akkadian (or Ugaritic or Hittite), I'll probably never actually sit down and learn them.
Whew. Maybe now I'm able to live comfortably with my decision not to buy this collection. (If that's the case, why does it linger on my Wish List?)

Shsh Lew! [:#] You are making too much sense. I've got to learn how to say "Happy Birthday" in Ugaritic.

Lew, I assume you read the reports that learning new languages is excellent mental exercise for those of us who are growing older (i.e. all humans who are not already brain dead). [:D] [8-|] [;)]
Okay I'll go back to reading this great book that arrived today - The Medieval Culture of Disputation: Pedagogy, Practice, and Performance [:D]
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

It is always good to have a book lying around that I want to get to one of these days.

Beautifully said, MJ. I'm not even sure I know the language that book's title is written in. [:D]
And while some are willing to share numbers (in terms of how much this collection would cost them), others are a bit more hesitant to share numbers (in terms of how well we're "growing older"). [:)]

It is on my wishlist--will be purchased after I pay down other stuff. I would like to see more intermediate grammars one of these days, but I guess I could, you know, make suggestions or something.
Btw, I actually got a call from sales to let me know something on my wishlist had gone on sale a few weeks ago. I couldn't buy at the time, but that was a first and I appreciated very much as it was a rare event. Maybe another day...

Sarah, I checked out your website http://www.night-light.org and I am greatly encouraged by your example. I am new to learning Hebrew and find it a challenge with retinopathy. You are an inspiration. [Y]
