Is this the correct prioritization scheme for Bibles?

Top English Bible choice NRSV
Priority English Bibles for specific ranges where the books (range) is outside the canon of the NRSV
Priority English Bibles for specific lectionary resources
Priority English Bibles for specific commentary and monograph resources
General (default) English Bible choices
Top Greek non-Septuagint Bible (or Morphology Interactive fails)
Top Greek Bibles - NT & LXX
Top Hebrew/Latin/Syriac Bibles - no special restrictions imposed by Logos

Anyone who would post a post like this is the prioritization guru of all prioritization gurus.

Good luck finding someone who knows more about any of this stuff than you do.

Alas, I can't really help. Apart from English Bibles and one Greek Bible and one Hebrew Bible, I don't use let alone prioritize any of that other stuff.

I think of Mark Barnes as the prioritization guru with Dave getting a serious nod .... but I am beginning to believe that there is a bug in prioritization but can't prove it until I'm sure how it is intended to work.

The main thing is to prioritize books that cover the same canon or range of 'bible' books for look-up purposes.

e,g, with no advanced restrictions

ESV
REB
NLT
NET
NRSV
LES
LES (AT)
LXX Swete
SBLGNT

ESV is my #1 bible and #1 English bible (i.e. preferred bible).

REB is #1 for Aprocrypha references whilst NRSV catches the rest.

LES picks up Septuagint unique references.

LXX Swete is #1 Hebrew bible and SBLGNT is #1 Greek bible.

REB, NLT, NET & NRSV are alternative English bibles for references common to the ESV (in the Context menu) and these five are my Top Bibles.

1. English bibles

Some of your bibles for specific resources may not be listed in the Context menu of 5 if NRSV or the Bibles for specific ranges have the reference

Likewise your General English bibles may not be listed.

It comes down to the number of bibles you prioritize in each category and what you want in the context menu as alternative sources for the same reference i.e. 'trial and error' because it also affects Top Bibles

2. Language Bibles

You obviously prefer English bibles so there is little chance they will appear in the context menu for common references and even less chance they will be in Top Bibles. But your #1 language choice is unaffected.

No.

Your Top English Bible should not be first. Remember, Logos works down the list until it finds something that matches. As it stands, your lectionary and commentary choices will be ignored, because Logos will match with the NRSV before it 'sees' your later prioritisations. So, you should move "Priority English Bibles for specific lectionary resources", and "Priority English Bibles for specific commentary and monograph resources" to the top of the list.

In terms of primary look-up source: Yes

In terms of Context menu: it only affects the order of resources (which I was addressing)

In terms of 'Top Bibles': No impact - Bibles with resource-specific prioritizations are not included

For several years, I had the top Bible below as you suggest. However, I ran into problems of "not found" that forced me to move one (and only one) Bible to the top. I'll try later to find the thread relating to that problem. The logical order to me does not work in all tools - what I would expect to set would be:

Bibles for specific resources
Bibles for specific ranges
General default Bibles

Having Bibles for specific ranges above general default Bibles breaks the "Top Bibles" auto-collection, because the Top Bibles will selected from your first five resources that are not set to specific resources.

That doesn't really matter though, because you probably don't need to use Top Bibles for anything.

If it does matter, I would simply move General default Bibles above Bibles for specific ranges, then if necessary use advanced prioritisation on the general Bibles to restrict their range to just Gen-Rev, or whatever you want. I would imagine that most of your default Bibles won't need advanced prioritisation because they won't include the Bible ranges you'll specify later in your more specific prioritisation.

Looking back at old posts it was the behavior of Power Lookup that forced the range specific resources up in the priority range.
