Hey guys! We've made some minor changes to the Works of the Rev. Richard Watson. It's been on Community Pricing for a while so it's nice to give it a bit of a refresher and to re-evaluate what it costs to get this thing produced.

If you have a bid on the collection, you'll get an email, but I quickly wanted to provide a synopsis of the changes here (and shamelessly promote this collection in case anyone missed it. Watson is a really important theologian for Wesleyan/Methodist theological studies and church history).

  • We combined the three volumes of sermons into a single, comprehensive volume. All the sermons will still be there--pursuing the single-volume edition reduces costs and helps us get this collection into production faster.
  • For his Theological Institutes, instead of the earlier, four-volume edition as originally made by Richard Watson, we're going with a later edition edited by Methodist theologian Thomas O. Summers. In Watson's first edition, he apparently didn't add accents or breath marks on his Greek words, he didn't cite his Bible references, and sometimes had minor errors in his Bible quotations (Summers hypothesizes that Watson was quoting Scripture from memory as he wrote the Institutes). Summers corrects all of these, which makes Watson's Institutes MUCH more usable in Logos, as the software will actually be able to recognize the Greek words and you'll be able to look up his Scripture citations much more easily.
  • We won't be able to produce his book reviews published from the Methodist-Wesleyan Magazine in this series. However, this allows us to pursue his original edition of "Remarks on the Eternal Sonship of Christ" published in 1818, which was his response to the then-recent controversy of the Methodist understanding of Trinitarian theology.
  • Volume 6 has been substantially reduced; of it, we cannot produce "Introductory Essay to Scougals Life of God in the Soul of Man" nor "A Letter to William Roscoe," nor "A Defence of the Wesleyan-Methodist Missions in the West Indies." But, we are still planning on pursuing "Conversations for the Young".

The product page has been revamped with more detailed information written on each volume, and we might see the graph change as more accurate projected costs come in over the next few weeks. Now's a great time to place a bid and show your support for Methodist works in Logos!
