For a while I've been reading daily devotionals in "Devotions from the World of Sports" https://vyrso.com/product/31611/devotions-from-the-world-of-sports

Is not very deeply pietist style, and a bit US centered with 20th century nostalgy, but avoids the drowsy atmosphere in most devotionals.

Below is a quotation of todays's devotion:

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. —1 CORINTHIANS 10:31

Grant Teaff’s Baylor Bears had experienced a lackluster 1978 football season. Injuries and last-second defeats left their record at 2 wins, 8 losses. But Coach Teaff dug up the perfect motivation for their season finale.
The University of Texas Longhorns needed a victory to earn a repeat trip to the Cotton Bowl. The Bears had lost their first- and second-string quarterbacks and tabbed walk-on Mickey Elam to start.
The Bruin coach told his team a joke just before taking the field. He related how two Eskimos went fishing. One caught everything. The other caught nothing.
When the unsuccessful fisherman asked for the secret, the successful one only mumbled. He repeated the question. This time, the fisherman opened a mouthful of crawling bait and replied, “You’ve got to keep the worms warm.”
Teaff informed his team, “I’ll do my part. I’ll keep the worms warm.” The coach plunked a four-inch night crawler into his mouth.
Filled with emotion, the players rushed from the locker room. The Baylor offense marched swiftly down the field, and the defense stifled the Longhorn attack. At game’s end, the scoreboard read Baylor 38, Texas 14. The Bears finished their season on a high, and Texas lost its Cotton Bowl berth.
When told the story, many fans wondered if Teaff actually swallowed the worm or managed to spit it out later. Either way, his story worked.
At Thanksgiving time, we especially enjoy sitting down to a feast with family and friends. As we eat and visit around the table, we should remember that the Lord wants whatever we eat and drink and whatever we do and say to be to His honor and glory.
