    I find that Reese is more detailed in his chronology than other plans which focus on Chapters instead of verses.  Example- reese tries to intergret the Psalms with the life of David. You may not agree with all his chronology but I believe you will find it very enjoyable reading through this Bible in the coming year.

    The only area I need help with is creating a Bible reading plan based on this lectionary.  Any help will be appreciated.

    I originally wanted to create a passage list of all verses in Chronological order and open them in my Bible as a Passage List but to my disappointment I found out that they are automatically resorted in Canonical order which defeat my purpose. [:(] I wish there was a way to change this.

    John when you apply a passage list as a filter to a bible all it does is hide from view the verses that are not part of the list. It is not resorting anything. The order of the text is fixed, You can't resort the text of any book. You can only resort selected user created documents such as passage lists and note files.  So the filter isn't automatically resorting your bible into canonical order because it's already in that order and the order can't be changed.

    I under stand technically what you are saying but I wish it could appear in the order of the passage list.

    How then do I choose a bible reading plan based on a lectionary?  A link to a video would be of great help.

    Lectionaries are not my area of expertise since I come from a non-liturgical background I have not explored building my own lectionary and neither have I tried to create a reading plan from a lectionary.  All I can say with my limited knowledge of this area is that within Logos lectionaries are normally used on the home page instead of as reading plans so I am not sure how a reading plan would work.

    As the dates are already in the resource, there is no need to create a reading plan simply:

    • compile the personal book with the type "lectionary"
    • on the Home page, select the gear icon for customization
    • on the right, select the new "lectionary" (check box) and drag and drop to the desired position
    • it will now appear on your home page

    You may need to restart Logos to see it in the gearbox where you customize the homepage.

    I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I compiled as a lectionary but it doesn't show. I opened lectionary to see if it would parallel but didn't show there either

    The tagging of the PB source is not that of a lectionary (@yearmonthday, such as 1 January, 2017) but that of a calendar devotional (@dayofyear, such as 1 January - here even worse: [[@dayofyear.1.1]] ) and won't work. Sorry, I didn't check earlier.

    Try this file: 4278.7450.Reese Chronological Bible.lectionary.docx

    It will compile as type:lectionary and (after restarting Logos) you should be able to see it as a potential candidate for the lefthand-column of the homepage.

    There it will look like this:

    Still not fancy (and I think it misses out on one day somewhere), but working as a lectionary.

    Thank you Mick for the 2017 date version.

    It would be nice to have Frank Clausen's "The chronology of the Bible" to go along with this.

    Curious about web source copyright ?

    Printed edition has 1977 Copyright by Bethany House.(for the chronological ordering of King James Version text). Baker Publishing has 1977 & 2016 Copyright for Bethany House Publishing division in excerpt => http://assets.bakerpublishinggroup.com/processed/book-resources/files/Excerpt_9780764206290.pdf?1467208055

    Greetings to all!

    Is there any way to "transform" this document into a full Bible?

    I have the physical version of Resse Chronological Bible, but I would like read it through Logos.

    This document gives me the whole outline but I am suppo sed to click or hover the mouse over the verses.

    Can I automatically "extract" and have the verses into a document with the order proposed?

    From the wiki - this syntax will pull in the actual text of the Bible

    [quote]

    Dynamic text

    {{dtext ref=Jn 1:1 }}
    The big feature driving the Lectionary and Harmony support is the addition of a {{dtext ...}} syntax. Dynamic text can be used for any of the Personal Book resource types. If you create a Personal Book with the above dtext the verse will display using your preferred Bible.
    Personal Books compiled using the Lectionary and Bible Harmony resource types get some special treatment in the resource display. If you change the resource type to “Bible Harmony”, the verse should still default to your preferred Bible, but you now have a dropdown at the top of the resource panel to select any version you prefer.

    Syntax

    The syntax for dtext is {{dtext parameters}} where parameters takes the form of a=x | b=y | c=z and can appear in any order. The actual parameters are: ref, res, and filter.

    Ref
    Required – Must be a Bible reference. The exact syntax of the reference is flexible; anything that can be parsed as a reference will work e.g.

    {{dtext ref=Bible:1 Corinthians 4:6}}

    If the ref attribute is missing, PB will not interpret the tag.

    Res
    Optional – Forces dtext to be pulled from a specific resource e.g. Authorized Version:

    {{dtext ref= 1 Co 4:6 | res=LLS:1.0.3}}

    Filter
    Optional – Specifies which text and formatting are brought over. Possible values are:
    • bible-text, bible-text-plain, bible-text-paragraphed
    • bible-text-and-verses, bible-text-and-verses-paragraphed
    • bible-text-and-following-verses, bible-text-and-following-verses-paragraphed
    • text-plain, text-paragraphed
    If not specified, Lectionaries will default to bible-text-and-verses-paragraphed, and Harmonies to bible-text-and-verses e.g.

    {{dtext ref= 1 Corinthians 4:6 | filter=bible-text-plain | res=LLS:1.0.3}}

    You will need to add this dynamic text element beside each Bible reference.

    Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

    this syntax will pull in the actual text of the Bible

    if you want to see how a daily lectionary with given bible texts / bible references and dynamic text looks like, you can try my Moravian Texts lectionary

    The word syntax doesn't look very pretty. You might be willing to do hundreds of copy-paste to get the dynamic text format, what I personally do to avoid some of the repetitive manual work is using an Excel spreadsheet and formulas, building the days as one string, then pasting those 365/66 cells into word as text only and subsequently "replace all" some predetermined text markers with other text (or just paragraph markers) and Heading formatting. Maybe intelligent search/replace in Word will be enough for your purposes.

    Thank MJ. Smith

    As always your helps and accurate and welcome.

    I tried and it worked.

    Now I will define how I want it look like, set the formulas in Word Wildcards and automate the process. When I have it done I'll share it here in case anyone wants to have it.

    NB Mick, thank you.

    I'll surely check your file to have some inspiration.

    This is great. I have the hard back and I want to rearrange some of his chronology.  Now I can.

    Have a great day.
