Why can't Mobile Ed courses be viewed off-line? [Update: they can!]

Logos, please enable off-line viewing for your mobile ed courses. There are several companies who offer this option for their customers. Thank you.

For traveling, I use my tablet. Unfortunately, Logos has decided that encorporating off-line viewing for Mobile Ed is not important. I hope they reconsider. Thanks again 😊.

There are several companies that offer courses with off-line viewing. Udemy.com and Coursera are just a few. So the file size is not the issue. The issue is that Logos has decided not to incorporate this feature into their app. I hope they reconsider!

What operating system is being used on tablet ?

Can tablet connect online when at home ?

FYI: my primary travel device is a MacBook Air so can download Mobile Education videos at home for use offline when traveling.

Thanks Jeremy. So it's possible to transfer files to my Ipad for off-line viewing! I will look into this. I'm about to travel overseas and will have limited internet access.

I would also like to be able to download Mobile Ed videos for off-line viewing on a laptop (Windows 7, Windows 10) or an IPad. We use Verizon Cellular for internet access, which is not unlimited bandwidth. Thus, video streaming is very limited, or very costly. If I could download video files when I'm at my son's house, with unlimited bandwidth, and watch them at home, it would make Mobile Ed courses MUCH more useful for me.

I've had (and currently have) many Mobile Ed video files in my Logos webcache folder, but I've never seen one with a MOV file type. I wish they would use a standard video format so the videos could be played outside of Logos, but to my knowledge, Faithlife uses a proprietary file type that can only be played from within Logos.

All the courses can be viewed while offline. For each course you want to view offline, do the following four steps.

Open the course video
Select the course icon in the upper left of the screen
Select "Download all media"
Wait for the download to complete (can take quite a while)

Post back if you have any trouble with the process.

Your welcome, John. I've only done it a couple of times and it was awhile back, but as I recall, Logos does not give you any visible indication that it has started downloading, nor does it tell you when it has finished. IIRC, the only way to tell is to select the course icon again after requesting the download and the option to download the media will have changed to something along the lines of "Cancel download" or "Cancel media download. I don't recall what that message reads when the download has finally finished. But be prepared to have your patience tested. As I recall, the downloads I did took so long, that the first time I did it for a course, I thought the download process must have gotten hung up, but it did eventually finish.

I have had great success downloading videos. You can rename the videos if you like. Add almost any common video extension you like and they should play fine. MP4 would be fine for iPad.

To monitor downloading you can open your Task Manager and monitor your internet download rate.

Thanks Rick. I have started the download progress and hope this works. While it appears to be a time consuming process (must also upload to my iPad), it is a workaround.

I have never been able to view courses offline, even after downloading all of them. As you can see, I have all media downloaded. Today I started a video, then left the house. As soon as I was out of range of wifi, the course would no longer play, even though all videos are downloaded.

This is on an iMac with Sierra, running Logos 7.7.0.0015, but this has always been an issue for me. Never tried it on a Windows machine. Perhaps it isn't an issue there?
