When I start 4.0C beta 2, the program locks up and does not respond. I cannot open any resources or even open the Library browser. Is there any way I can get out of this trap?
The log is attached.

I cannot reproduce this issue. What happens if you force the program to shut down with the task manager and then restart your machine?
I tried that and it did not help.
I cannot even enter a command in the command box. I would like to go back to the stable release version, so I can get my work done.
This problem started with 4.0c beta 1. It had been working fine. Then I closed all windows and shut down the program. This morning I could not open anything. So I downloaded beta 2, hoping it would fix the problem, but no joy.
This doesn't sound like a beta issue necessarily. Something out of the blue like that could be a system problem or a corruption. Also, there are no errors in the logs you posted. Sorry, I don't have any helpful suggestions.
I'm sorry you are experiencing these issues.
As far as I know, the only way to go from a Beta version of Logos back to a SR version is to completely uninstall L4 and its associated files, then download and install the most recent stable release from the Logos site. That means all the download time and indexing again. That is one of the risks of swimming in the Beta pool. That is also why I keep a netbook with a stable release on hand.
Maybe someone with more knowledge and experience can weigh in and provide more help.
Harry,
If you're running XP or Win7 how about going back to a "restore point" a few days ago and then not letting Logos update?
Harry, looked at your logs and no obvious errors there.
Have you tried the suggestion here:

Yes, I tried that. I cannot even get to the Logon screen if I do that. Windows leaves a blank space where there ought to be a log on screen.
I also tried a restore point to the last day when Logos worked and it did not help.

Ooo. That's very odd, and ominous sounding.
Have you updated any drivers or had any system updates recently? It sounds more like a problem with .NET or WPF.

The log indicates it's working offline. Did you lose connection, or did you choose to work offline? If you're connected and sign in to Logos 4 does it start without problem?
I turned off Use Internet, because wanted to see if that made any difference. Turning if back on does not help.
The only thing I can get to is System Settings. If I try Home page, Library, Search, open a book or anything else, the program gives the hourglass and eventually says "Not responding". The common factor seems to be accessing the books.
Here are the log files if I just open the program with no resources and then choose Copy Bible Verse. It just locks up.

I uninstalled Logos 4.0C beta 2 and deleted the Logos folder. I reinstalled 4.0B release version and I still have the same problem. I cannot even log on to Logos. I just get a blank logon screen.
I'll see if I can help after church. Re-post in Logos4 forum with all logs (installation, crash, indexer etc)
Might be worth reinstalling or repairing the .NET framework.
Uninstalling, deleting the Logos folder and reinstalling did not work. Several Logos tech support people worked with me and even remotely controlled my computer, but nothing seemed to work. Instead of the Logos log on screen, I would get a blank white window and the Windows hourglass. Nothing asking for my customer ID and password.
After wasting an entire day on this, I finally have the Logos release version working (sort of).
Last night I had an idea that finally worked out. Before reinstalling, I deleted the contents of the Windows\temp folder and the User temp folder. Then I rebooted and downloaded and reinstalled the release version. This finally allowed my to have a log on screen. Logos crashed after downloading 40% of the resources (oddly it was an indexer error). But when I started Logos it continued downloading resources and started indexing. So late last night I had a working program.
The key seemed to be to delete the contents of the Windows and user temporary folders.
Now my problem is that synchronization does not get any of my collections, layouts of other personal stuff. Oddly my old laptop was able to pick up the layout that I was using on this new laptop, so my personal files were saved to the Logos server before this problem occurred. Does anyone know how I could get synchronization to bring back my personal files? I have tried forcing a synchronization, but it does not pick anything up.
Normally, not all files sync between the beta and release versions.
It does not matter whether I use the release version (4.0b SP1) or the current beta (4.0c beta 2). I cannot get any of my personal settings, collections, layouts, visual filter, etc. Nothing seems to come back when I synchronize.
Oddly, if I add a Layout or Visual Filter to this computer, it shows up almost immediately in my old laptop. But the new computer will not pick up any of my old saved personalizations. Synchronization seems to only work one way on this computer.
I manually copied by *.db files as described here:
http://community.logos.com/forums/t/14814.aspx
This took care of everything except the Collections. When I renamed each Collection on the old computer, the new computer could pick them up. They are now synchronized, I think. But it does not inspire confidence.
