Logos Now to Faithlife Connect

I just received the email today about the new changes and I am not very happy about this. I admit that I don't use all the features in Logos Now but if I want the sermon writing tools then my subscription doubles. I live in Canada and the exchange rate is always going up and down so my price will be closer to $250 per year and then any books I buy are on top. I have been using Logos for 20 years but this on really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. When I first started using Logos it seemed more ministry minded but now it feels like it's all about the business. I will have to seriously reconsider my subscription. I liked that I could upgrade the software without buying a whole new library but will this be the next feature to go?

Pete, I'm sorry you're not happy with the changes. Keep in mind that you have until at least 11/12/18 before you need to make a decision on what to do from here. You haven't lost anything, and your experience won't change until then (or later, if you're renewal date comes after that). It sounds like the best option for you might be to buy the Logos 7 or Logos 8 Full Feature Set with the promo code that you received by email. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Phil, give us a clue (even if it's not correct) as to what the price for Logos 8 might be for those of us who have Logos 7 Full Feature Set. If you're not sure, simply make something up. We'll believe anything! :-)

There are two sermon writing features that are disappearing with the new subscription. Those are the two features that I am not going to double my subscription price just to have access to.

One option would be to replace your Logos Now subscription with a Verbum Now subscription.

Pete, you also have the option of switching from Logos Now to Verbum Now when your Logos Now subscription expires. Verbum Now is sticking around, costs the same as Logos Now, and is almost identical to it.

This is why FL needs to raise prices. Read Bob's explanaton and it is pretty clear that those who have bought (past tense) lots of books are not buying many more books. So they no longer add much to the revenue stream, BUT they "demand" more features and that costs money. So stop demanding more features and support or buy lots more books - or pay for the cost of development of the things you "demand"[:)]

This sounds like a marketing overgeneralization to me, as in: ''this new store, everybody is going.'' Read as, U should get with the program + go to [ + Ur outa touch if U don't].

FL wants us to get with the rent program. Surely there are new customers who want to buy; they have not suddenly become extinct. But, the blanket-statement meme they wanna inhabit Ur brain is their version of rent.

Broad-based generalizations are often toooo wide to be true. I say listen for their utterance, then dissect them for veracity. Often the originator wants to slide them into Ur ''ecosystem'' so they become true for U.

As an example: I have heard the average North American male is 5'10''. Hmmm. Taller than that: my son, my dad's dad, my mom's brother, me. Shorter: my dad. At 5'10'': my son-in-law.

Parse those statements!!! They are not all 5'10'' !!!

I don't think I've demanded much over the years, and I've definitely spent a fair share of cash.

I have been in the habit of buying more books despite not implicitly needing them. I think that was what I was getting at - thats what may be changing for me in the midst of all this.

Many of us aren't buying more books because FL changed the payment plan system several years ago. My purchases from the two years prior to the plan change were roughly 400% higher than in the two years since the change. There are many resources that I'd love to have and I absolutely would have purchased at least as much as I did before the change if FL hadn't modified their policy. Other members of the forum have acknowledged over the years that that policy change also led to a reduction in their Logos spend. I have no doubt that some customers have everything they need, but a good number of us just could no longer afford the prices without the old payment plan system.
