the Atlas Tool should be working properly now.
After restarting a few times and Logos quitting unexpectedly, now the Atlas tool is back for me in the desktop app and it looks great! Thank you to everyone on the Faithlife team that has been working to make this happen!

Mike,
Is this still not showing up? Depending on your internet connect speed it can take some time during the initial set up of the new Atlas Tool.

Hi Philana, thanks for your concern. No, it is not. I have restarted several times, let it sit overnight. Restarted the computer several times. I see the left column for a brief moment then it disappears (?)

Mike,
This looks like something else going on. Can you click on the link in my post signature titled Diagnostic Logging and follow the instructions there to reproduce the issue. Then zip the log folder an upload them here. This will help us in diagnosing the problem.

Logging has always confused me. At some point I downloaded a "Logging Utility" and I think I used it right. I hit "sample" and the file below is what it gave me. Let me know if I did it wrong.

Mike,
This didn't grab your logs. Did you grab the sample while the app was running and with the Atlas Tool (that is broken) still open? If you could try again and upload your logs it would be appreciated.

When I got home from work this evening everything opened as expected, so I don't know what was going on! I'm good now though. Thanks!

Mine worked fine once the update completed, even before indexing had finished. Initial impression is the new Atlas does perform much better, I might consider using it now based on those impressions to see if they hold.
The question i would have is two-fold: with the change have we lost any content that has not been converted to the new format and has all the content promised to be delivered with Logos 6 maps been delivered or is there still some outstanding

Fixed, indeed! This new Atlas tool is AMAZING! You all have really outdone yourselves! I love the fact that they are so much faster to load and the fact that they are in order!
That being said, I discovered one small chronology issue. I think one of these items are out of order, which appears to be an oversight. See if you can guess which one.
Thanks for the positive feedback: this release has been a long time coming, but I'm happy with all the new maps and the improved speed. We'll look into this ordering issue.

That's a good question. I remember buying 3 volumes in the L6 days. All the content that shipped previously has been converted to the new format.
We're actively working on the last few dozen maps to complete the third Atlas volume.

I have this same issue... is it linked to the graphics card?

We have not found a fix, the problem everyone else was experiencing was a server issue that could be fixed without shipping a new version of the application. The issue you are experiencing with the white screen will most likely require us to ship an SR which is a longer process. It is on our radar and has not fallen through the cracks. I'll update this thread once we have it fixed.

Can you enable logging, recreate the issue, and upload your logs. I want to verify that you are in fact experiencing the same issue.

As a workaround you should be able to use the Atlas Tool using the web app at app.logos.com.

Mike,
I know its at the top of the list to be fixed, but I don't think we have determined the specific cause. I'm the QA Tester for the desktop team, but I'm not a developer so I can't determine the underlying cause. But part of my job is to help gather information developers will need to diagnose and fix the issue.
The reason I asked for John's logs is that two different crashes or bugs can cause the same behavior. I want to provide a copy of John's logs so the developer can look at both sets and determine that their fix will work.

My Logos version is 7.13.0017. If I click on "Update Now" it says "No updates available" Yet I have the little yellow circle which says "Consider updating"

Why is Logos not updating?Often this is due to settings you have changed related to the timing of updates. In other words, you might have to make the attempt at 3 AM if that is what you chose!
In other cases, a glitch has occurred and you just need to manually update. See link in my signature line

On Mac, sometimes the link to the app needs to be deleted and a new one created. If that doesn’t apply, please create a new thread.

I found my problem. I had sometime back moved my logos folder to an SSD and linked it with junction64. What I didn't realize is that when I opened up logos again it redownloaded everything right back to the AppData folder so I had two installs of Logos. I would click on the shortcut to the one on my SSD which was still at 7.13, while Logos saw my main install as the one in AppData. So I have deleted everything and am now reinstalling on my SSD. Hopefully everything works this time. Thanks for the help.

I am having the same exact issues and the Logos log files have the Logos log seems to have captured it accordingly. The crash files indicates a first use crash which has not happened since but the ATLAS feature is still not working. It will flash an Index file momentarily and then go blank.

You should update to SR-1, where it is fixed. To update, start Logos with the CTRL key held as this will open to a blank layout (Atlas cannot load).

We believe we were able to fix one of your issues with the Atlas Tool with 7.15. Can you confirm whether or not things are working?

Bump.....I really, really, really would like this to be fixed. It has been 2 months since an "update" killed atlas. I know I can go online, but it's a pain not being integrated.
I get a feeling L8 is near and this is just being left till then.

I am still having this same exact problem as well. Have your issue been resolved? I have updated to the last release of 7.16.0.0012 and all my indexing has completed as well but I still get a blank screen in my Atlas tool [:(]. This is very frustrating indeed.

No, still not working. I think I will have to buy L8 to get it working again.

Curious about Graphics hardware. Thread => Atlas still not working includes a Faithlife developer reply on 17 Jul 2018 => https://community.logos.com/forums/p/168614/987036.aspx#987036 that mentions embedded CEF used by Atlas inherited a blacklist of Graphic Processors (GPU's) so Atlas appears blank when using a blacklisted GPU (plus mentions future beta testing plans to modify blacklist).
Keep Smiling [:)]

I know I will truly be upset if they broke something in 7 and then decided to charge me in 8 to get it fixed when it was an update in 7 that caused it. I’m having the same trouble with the Atlas.

Remember that Logos has a free version ... one can upgrade without cost.

I have figured out my problem and it does have something to do with the GPU but it's not what I expected. After looking at my chrme;//gpu setting I noticed that it was not using my graphis hardware driver but rather software drivers. This was due to the fact that I am connected to a USB docking station at home when I home. The laptop in which I have the LOGOS software is a Dell XPS12 with a very small screen ( touch screen two in one) which has excellent hardware but when connecting to my USB docking station the docking station's software kicks in si it can project my screen to a larger monitor. I tested this theory out and the ATLAS tool works when undocked :-(

Michael, it sounds like you might be running into the same issue I discuss here that some users of older MacBooks are experiencing: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/168614.aspx.
Hopefully our change to override the GPU blacklist in CEF will allow you to use the Atlas tool once again. I'm sorry I don't know with which version of the application the fix will roll out.
0 -
Michael,
As Alan mentioned, you might benefit from the changes we're rolling out soon. In the meantime, you can test if this fix will work for you by:
- Going to app.logos.com and opening Atlas. I would expect a crash here.
- Going to chrome://flags and enabling "ignore-gpu-blacklist" and restarting Chrome.
- Going back to app.logos.com to see if Atlas is now functional.
Edit: That said, if the problem is that your docking station doesn't have (or allow/support) access to any GPU hardware, then this change will probably not have any affect for that configuration.Edit: I just remembered that our change will only affect macOS. If performing the above steps confirms that ignore-gpu-blacklist will fix problems related to your docking station, then we can make an analogous change for Windows.
Good luck!

Help me out with this part of the Atlas. For example, I can type in Bethlehem (of Judah) and clicking on that, it'll take me right to it.
But typing in Bethlehem (of Zebulun) and it'll take me to Zebulun (free of charge) but doesn't show Bethlehem there.
I've used the Atlas a little but not much. Why was I thinking if one scrolled upwards, the map would show more places or am I confusing that with Google maps? If that wasn't and still isn't a feature in the Atlas, is there anything in the works to make it work like that?
