I had pre-ordered NT322 Book Study: The Gospel of Luke by Dr. Darrell L. Bock (10 hour course) which is going to be out soon. However, I noted that I already own a course Mobile Ed: NT316 Book Study: The Gospel of Luke by Dr. Andrew W. Pitts (13 hour course). I could not understand the logic of having two Mobile Ed study courses on one book. Are these two different courses teach Gospel of Luke from different perspectives or are supplementary to each other? Are we going to have two book Mobile Ed study courses for a single book of the bible in future? Any help is appreciated.

Dr. Bock's course will actually be our third book study of Luke! [:)] We have at least two book studies on each of the Synoptic Gospels with courses by Craig Evans on each of them. We also have multiple book study courses on Romans and Colossians and multiple courses on Hebrews and Philippians (though they are classified differently).

The logic behind having multiple courses on just one book is the same as having multiple commentaries on the same book. Each speaker has their own approach to the book. They will look at it from different perspectives (historical, literary, theological), interpret certain passages differently, emphasize different themes, etc. We will not have multiple courses on each book of the Bible, but we will have duplicate studies for some books.

In the case of Dr. Bock's study on Luke we felt that we should take advantage of the opportunity to record a course on Luke with him even though we already had courses on Luke by Dr. Pitts and Dr. Evans. Dr. Bock is one of the preeminent scholars on Luke and is a great communicator who presents well in our format.
