Slides not advancing correctly using the Proclaim Remote app
Earlier today (approx 3:30pm UK time) I was preaching in our building and using the Proclaim remote app to advance slides and also reference my notes.
However, after about the fourth slide it flagged an error to do with not being able to move on to the next slide (I couldn't take a proper note of the message as I was focusing on preaching).
I needed to ask our projection operator to advance slides instead of being able to do it from the app.
But more of a problem was that the app never seemed to recover from this and kept going back to the slide it had been on when the problem occurred. Even though I could select later slides in the app to see my notes every 10-15 seconds or so it would take me back to the slide where the problem occurred and so I lost my place.
This was using version 3.11.10.115 of the app running on my iPad Pro. Locwo Wi-Fi was enabled
Can something be done please to stop this happening in the future?
Thanks, Graham
PS: I will send logs through and reference this thread.
My church has a similar experience. Except no consistency with the problems. For about the last two months the control is lost within 30 minutes of service or we do not have control at all.
Windows 10 Pro, Version 2004 OS Build 19041.928 w/ Proclaim 3.1.0.0060
iPad Air 2(MGKL2LL/A) IOS 13.3 w/ Proclaim 3.11.10.115
I've tested a few conditions that have existed:
1. A recent update on MS Windows 10 set our network interface to Public. Changed it back to Private.
2. Power cycled our Unifi 24-port switch (causing the network interface on windows to reset).
While we did get control back, after I restarted Windows(after the netwrok switch reboot). And our standard operating procedure is to turn off all the A/V equipment after the end of service. So we did have a fresh boot this morning.
I'm going to upgrade the IOS on the iPad to 14.5.1 and upgrade Proclaim on our computer to 3.1.0.0062.
We're using a HP-Z640 workstation for both projection using Proclaim and video switching / live-stream with OBS. Our audio is transported using Dante Virtual Soundcard which provides three audio streams for OBS, Proclaim, and Zoom. (some thought that their might be network conflicts between the Dante network and the AV network.
Follow Up:
1. I updated the IOS to 14.5.1 and Proclaim on our PC to 3.1.0.62.
2. Changed the network profile on the PC to Private.
So far the remote control is working.
Other things to consider, is if you have Antivirus software on your computer, they typically contain Host Based Firewalls that can restrict how other devices communicate with it and might not allow the remote to communicate properly. Faithlife may want to weigh in on this as I don't know how the communications works between these devices.
Hi Zachary
Thanks for sharing your experience with this and what you have done.
I doubt if this is the issue as it has worked correctly in the past. Having said that, we only have occasional services in our building so this is the first time we have used it since the 2 April and there have been updates to Proclaim on both the desktop and remote since then.
It is also the first time we have been streaming (from the computer running Proclaim to YouTube) which would have put an additional load on the WIFi network. I should have mentioned that in my original post as that might be relevant.
I'm hoping that the logs supplied to Faithlife will provide some insight to them regarding what is happening.
