Some renewed attention needed for crashes?

I am wondering if others are feeling like there are more crashes in Logos/Verbum these days than usual, and I don't see much resolution to them in Release notes or Philana's kind replies that something was fixed in a new release.

I did a search of new threads with "Crash" in the subject line, and there are 14 unique ones just since the first of the year. From my own experience on Verbum/Mac and seeing the threads, it seems like there is a problem with Media - videos when closed crash the system, problems with viewing other images, etc. From the crashes I have received, recently it seems like at least some of them look like some sort of problem on Mono (I am on a Mac). Maybe there is a problem with a new version of Mono, or how its used?

I have also had crashes reported, logs submitted, for some time, and when I ask about them I get nothing more than they are being investigated - if there is a reply at all. I know people are busy, but I find myself more and more avoiding using certain functions in Verbum/Mac that I know are going to crash. Mobile Ed and video lessons are pretty much out of consideration to be used anymore, these days.

In any case - I have not seen visible attention in this area, and maybe it needs some focus. Should this issue be escalated? Am I a "one-off" in my issues?

Crashes happen all the time for various reasons. Sometimes it is a bug which needs to be fixed. Sometimes it is a corruption in the user's installation. With bugs, some are "mission critical." Others are ones which may impact only a few users. A bug which impacts thousands will get more attention than one which impacts 10.

I don't know anything about your particular crashes.

I too have had crashes while using videos on my second screen. The problem is that I am often teaching when the crash comes and restarting is more important than submitting logs when it happens.

But in general use I find Logos to be very stable.

I am also a Mac user.

I'm in this camp. All computer programs are proned to crash once in a while.... but I find Logos to be stable.

It sure would be a nice start to eliminate the video crashes. They happen all the time, and they have been reported for some time. The rest are much less frequent.

The only crashes I have experienced in the last year or so were dealt with quickly - crashes often are fixed with s special release if they are widespread. But you are correct in saying that crashes with very specific causes that affect few people are sometime slow to get fixed. I have reported some odd crashes where I had insufficient information for anyone (including myself) to replicate. These I report only so FL programmers may recognize the issue when others report it in a reproducible way. If I were you I would write a gripe thread explaining precisely why courses are no longer workable for you. Sometime FL needs to be reminded of the effects of the bugs in order to prioritize them.
