In the forums, the question of Logos for lay people came up again (see How about a video of a Bible Study facilitator/member using Logos - Logos Forums.) Which made me think of a great Verbum initiative (see RCIA | Verbum). Which made me think of the main obstacles for using Verbum in small groups:

  • the loss of the sanctoral cycle in the redesign of the Home Page
  • the inability to build workflows based on multiple passages
  • the inability to build workflows based on non-Biblical texts, specifically, hagiographies and encyclicals
  • (optional) question and answers must include open, discussion questions

Fix these items and more churches would have motivation for using Verbum. Note that additional initiatives similar to the RCIA for liturgical readers/lector's preparation and for confirmation have distinct possibilities.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
