@georgesimopoulos-43, it's available in our iPadOS/iOS and Android apps. Do you want to see it in the Windows app? Which device do you preach from?

@phil-gons I am an itinerant speaker that teaches from my laptop. I can't rely on WiFi because of the variety of places I go. I need offline windows app support.

@georgesimopoulos-43, thanks for letting us know. It's on the list. I'll see what it would take to deliver this in an upcoming 9.x release. We ship a new point release every six weeks.

    @phil-gons I also use a Surface Pro Windows laptop/tablet
  • @phil-gons This is a show stopper for me as well. I use Logos because it is 100% offline and I can do it from anywhere. Until I cant.... (I use a windows laptop/tablet to preach from with no internet)

I would really value this - I'm trying to do away with my iPad and just use a windows tablet for everything. My church meets in a building with very unreliable wifi.

I'd like Preaching Mode to be like Presentation Mode in PowerPoint - one screen has the slides full screen, and the other has the sermon notes. The biggest advantage of being native to Logos is that I'd like the option to switch between that mode (one screen slides + one screen notes) to Logos interactive mode (both screens mirroring the same Logos desktop environment).
This would allow smooth switching from lecture-style presentation to ad hoc Bible study and back again. The use case might be someone asking in the middle of a Sunday school lesson how many times a certain phrase is used in a book or in the Bible. I could switch from lecture mode to study mode and find the answer, then switch back to the lecture mode to resume the original lesson notes.
I do this sometimes with PowerPoint, but it is always awkward because of switching software packages and also switching the secondary screen from "extend" to "mirror" and back again. If Logos could have a native function that did this, it would be helpful.

Please add this as an option for the Mac app as well!

@phil-gons Yes, I want to see it in the Windows app. I use a Surface Pro (Windows) tablet for preaching. I'm relatively new to Logos (but not to preaching). I was excited about preaching mode, until I realized it was dependent on Internet access and runs in a separate web browser. I totally get it that syncing is required for my sermon to be available from other devices. But I'm not generally going to be preaching from other devices. I preach from the same device with which I prepare my sermons. I'd like to be able to prepare/edit a sermon on my Surface and jump right into preaching mode without Internet access. Honestly, I may not use preaching mode at all, until and unless it works offline in Windows and in the Logos app. I don't believe accomplishing this request is even a slight technological obstacle.

@phil-gons In case my last statement appeared a little brusque, allow me rephrase it. I find it very easy to believe that the capable development team behind Logos have completed many far more difficult tasks than what satisfying this request requires.
  • It seems very intuitive to have the preacher mode to open in Logos as opposed to doing so in a web browser tab. It's already available on IpadOS and desktop clients like PowerPoint have tried and true presentation modes. I think Logos would benefit from having the preacher mode (offline) available in-app.

@phil-gons I preach from a surface tablet or laptop, so windows!

If 2020 has taught us anything it is to be prepared for anything. I use a Surface pro and would like the ability to preach totally offline. As it is, I end up printing sermon notes to have a hardcopy just in case. Having Logos hold the latest sermons locally and let them sync when able would be preferred!

@phil-gons Do you know if this feature will be implemented at some point?

I would love to know that it is coming, even if you can't say when. Your comments six months ago appear optimistic about the possibility of this feature's implementation in Logos 9.x.

@delbert-tritsch-72, yes. We'd still like to do this. I don't have a timeframe yet, but it's possible something in the next six months. We just kicked off a dedicated sermons team to make sure we have dedicated resources to advancing our suite of tools for preachers.

@phil-gons Wonderful news! Thank you for the update!
  • @phil-gons This is Great! Having this would open up so many options for me.
  • Yes, please add this to windows! I use a MS Surface Go when I preach, so it uses windows. It's great to have a full version of Logos on my smaller device, but I would love for preaching mode to work in the program instead of opening a web-page and requiring an internet connection. At my home congregation we have wi-fi, but when I travel and speak other places wi-fi is frequently unavailable and my phone hot-spot is not a stable and dependable backup.

I’m happy to see this moved to the planned status!
  • This would be great especially for those on foreign fields where there is little to no internet available for long periods of time. Hoping this gets implemented soon

The Logos Sermon Builder not only helps you prepare your sermon but makes it easy to present it as well. Using Preaching Mode, you can quickly navigate from your sermon document to a presentation format. This allows you to use a mobile device or laptop to present your sermon.

Note: Preaching Mode requires an internet connection to initiate the presentation. Once your sermon loads, a connection is not necessary to navigate through your sermon.

    To Get Started:

    1. Launch Preaching Mode
Open your sermon document and click Preach from the upper right corner of the document. Logos sends your sermon to a new tab in your web browser in a presentation view.
    Regards,

@Rachel Gomez  Thanks for this Rachel. However, it still doesn't address the request of the original post - that preaching mode can be opened within the Logos app while offline, instead of sending it to an external web browser.

I'm keen to see this implemented - like others who have commented I simply don't have regular access to the internet when preaching. A preaching mode that can operate within the logos app itself while offline would be ideal. @Phil Gons (Faithlife)  This suggestion is listed as planned - any updates on when we might see its implementation?

@Phil Gons (Faithlife)  Was planned. Was unplanned. Six months turned to two years. I'm afraid I'm going to polish my own process enough that offline preaching mode in Logos won't work as well for me as what I've got. Nudge nudge.
  • I would also appreciate Logos Preaching mode to be used without an internet connection on a windows laptop.  I use a surface pro tablet/laptop as my main device for preparing and preaching my sermons.  I am amazed that you can do preaching mode on a IOS or Android tablet, but not a windows laptop.   I thought with Logos 10 this would be improved, but it is not.

Yes. This should already exist. Because there are touchscreen tablets/notebooks that use Windows 64bit instead of iOS and Android.

All of us who use Windows 'tablets' (i.e. Surface devices) would still like this very much!
