Folders for Notebooks

Sub-folders are always a good idea. Breaking a study on Judges, say, into logical components like chapters and/or a specific judge will, at the very least, speed up the search and note retrieval process.0
-
Also allow folders and sub folders to be moved around in sequence and nesting levels.

I concur with just about all these ideas about merging and/or creating a "main folder notebook" to add the notebooks under, thus creating a simpler way of organizing your notebooks.0
-
Yes, I like this idea. It makes for a more detailed organization of the notebooks.0
-
I have had to develop a rather elaborate system of prefixes to try to organize the notes in an attempt to keep related studies together in the the list. (Ex. BS for bible study, TS for topical study, GWS for Greek word study, etc. The ability to locate related topics and studies using sub-folders would be a great improvement in the being able to organize my studies and papers.0
-
That would greatly improve note organization0

Yes0

Exactly!!!! This is would be a great way to add function to the notes section. I create a notebook for every sermon and every pericope as I work consecutively through a book. As a result, it takes me a long time to scroll through my notebooks to find the right one. Please add this feature!!!0
-
It's a much-needed improvement. Please!

The ability to add subfolder to notebooks would be a huge asset. Please consider this feature!0

yes I would love sub folders0

I feel we need a file and folder organizer for notebooks and all other documents. The ability to organize clippings and passage lists with the notes would be so much better. Or better yet the ability to nest a list, or clipping in the body of a note. I think some people are doing something like this with favorites but that seems miss named and favorites is syphoned off by itself and not very manageable on mobile. These changes would make logos truly all in one for me.0
-
Yes! folders would go a long way towards better organisation0
-
Even if it is not a physical folder structure, a virtual logical structure could be useful e.g. create a logical folder structure by author (e.g. for all of the NT Wright books I’ve made notes about, by Bible book (e.g. all the Deuternomy related resources or all of the Torah resources) or by course (e.g. all the resources for my seminary course XXX).
Perhaps even an upgrade to tagging would help - especially to make tags hierarchical, e.g. if I currently have tags for Moedim, Moedim:Pesach, Moedim:sukkot, etc0 -
How has this not been added yet. I had extremely high hope that this and few additional modifications to the notes portion of Logos, along with allowing headings, to at least being able to move the anchors from one place to another and prioritize them. The notes section of Logos has so much potential and needs improving.

Requested Oct. 2020?
What's the point of requests if they sit for five years. "Hi can I get a change to this program in five years time please?"
In five years I could make my own Bible software by myself. Trust me it's been done.0 -
The purpose of requests is to ensure that Logos is aware of their users' thoughts on improvements. They don't give us feedback on a scale of "hell freezes over" to "when is the earliest we can slip this in". Making a request implies nothing about whether it fits within the larger view of the evolution of the product over time. Yes, you could write your own Bible software including in it some decent application of neural networks. At least one person on the forum has done so. But others of us would rather spend our time using it rather than writing it.

This is a bit tedious, but I do organize my notes by using Favorites tab. I create a folder called Notes Folders, then have subfolders of all my books of the Bible, I can then have subfolders under those. You can also create folders for certain subjects and subfolders within those. Then just drag each note under the folder or subfolder you wish for it to be under.
No doubt, having a folder function within notes would be better, but this works for now.

Ya. The real issue is if a company doesn't want to do something they should say so.
Telling the person "no". Instead of a bunch of people waiting around hoping for something that's never going to happen. If a company does decide to do something, five years is unacceptable. Five weeks is closer to a proper wait.
The "I can do this myself" is a jab because I know how big this company is.
Recently Trump was talking about government workers working from home but not really working.
This post being five years old reminded me of that. Are yOu wOrKiNG bRo? 👀I'm lecturing the company on how to run the company, but if it takes five years to do something that should take five days, maybe someone should be lecturing them.

What credentials do you have in managing large computer apps i.e. why should I trust your judgment on the matter?

Because of what I said about results. If it takes five years to do something that should take five days, there is something wrong.

Having spent a career in maintaining and managing large computer applications, excuse me if am unwilling to believe that the length of time something would take to implement is the deciding element in the prioritization of requests.

When I'm in a restaurant, after waiting three hours for my food; going to the kitchen to have a little chat with the chef; he can try and tell me these things while I'm ringing his neck. 😅
Why ask suggestions? Is it so our grand children can benefit from the changes? 😣
But I answered my own query, after noticing the time frame of "Oct. 2020" and the somewhat recent format changes to Logos.I've seen this same pattern with companies for the past twenty years. It's always the same thing, without deviation.
It's not incompetence or laziness. It's always money. Every. Single. Time.Oh look, Google, that says men can get pregnant, also has a DRM system that you have to use an approved program to use the content you paid for. In the most orwellien dystopian fashion humanly possible.
I wonder how long it took the FaithLife staff to put the locks on the ebook content that belongs to me?
Probably a hundred times longer than it would have taken them to make the Table Of Contents auto collapse and follow.Cause nothing says protecting copyright like auto-blocking comments on social media that don't align with the mainstream narratives, but also being entirely unable to take down the pirate websites…

When I make a suggestion, it is just that - a suggestion. I expect Logos to take the suggestion into account when they are planning to work on that section of code. I expect Logos to screen the suggestions, including mine, for what is compatible with the overall direction of the software, the number of users it would help, the number of users it would screw over, and the cost benefit of the suggestion. Because of my liturgy-lectionary orientation and my broad use of a variety of higher criticisms and minimal use of the grammatico-historical criticism, I would prioritize suggestions in a very different manner than Logos. To insure "minimal use of the grammatico-historical criticism" not be misunderstood, let me remind you that my graduate school advisor was a philologist educated in France who taught in Germany, England, and the US. Philology which is broader is within my wheelhouse.
