This is a good idea - even better if linked to the Names of God that reflect the attribute.

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

How would this data set handle theological disagreements among Christians about God's attributes?

@SineNomine  How about sub-categorizing by denomination?

  • @SineNomine   Good question.  Remember Logos is not authoritative.  It reaches across denominational lines and contains a lot that I disagree with as a Baptist.  You would have to use your own judgment and respectfully disagree if you disagree.  Even within my Southern Baptist faith, there are differences.  Some of us disagree respectfully.

Just read some monographs and theologies. Does Logos s/w do your praying for you?
So do your own reading & meditating

This would be a great tool to discover the very heart of God.

@Robb Wood  "Some of us disagree respectfully."  I respectfully agree that it is the same in the Reformed traditions.  I also agree that it would be interesting to see how denominations differ as well.  As a Chaplain, that would not be a bad feature.

@SineNomine  With an acknowledgement of those attributes in question by an author of stature of that domain.

    1. Curious...How would this different from what is found in Systematic Theology books?
    2. Wondering if the scope could be broadened a little bit. Attributes of God is just one thing that God has revealed to us so that we can relate to Him. Then, there are Names of God, there are the Titles of God, there are the the metaphorical relationships between God and man, and there are the I AMs. All of these help understand God better, and the type of relationship we can expect to have with God. It would be great if all of the things I've brought up can be included under a broad umbrella of "Getting to Know God".
    3. God didn't just reveal His attributes using some powerpoint slides. Throughout history, He has revealed His attributes through His decisions. The purpose is so that we get a good idea of what it means for God to be, say, Just. If you can link all of God's decisions with His attributes, that would be great. Then I would look up all the passages where God's decision reflected His justice to get a full broad view of God's justice.
    Thanks for your consideration.

    I believe in a Win-Win-Win God.
