Read Aloud - More Speed Options

Hey guys. I would be keen for an increase over the current max 2x read aloud speed. My personal preference would be for the addition of 2.5x and 3x speed options, though some friends I have would like to see it increased up to 4x.
This would very helpful when I need to skim through articles, dictionaries, books etc. It would also use it to match audio speed with my internal reading speed. I will sometimes do this when I need that extra help to read through something.

Some users may also want additional options between 1.4x and 2.0x.

Additionally, when selecting the reading speed it currently cycles through the different options with each click, either having a drop down menu or a drop down slider (as a request entitled "Read Aloud Speed Slider" suggested) would be more functional.

While I have posted this within the desktop app (I use that the most), I would also like to see this in the mobile applications.

Thanks for your work, and I appreciate that this is a suggested improvement for a feature already available rather then requesting a completely new one to be implemented!

Please change Read Aloud to have a Speed Slider for choosing desired playback speed. The macOS System Preferences for Accessibility: Spoken Content has a Read Aloud Speed slider (from slow to fast), which would be an awesome improvement over fixed choices: 0.75x, 1x, 1.4x, 2x

I use the read out loud function a lot in various types of literature. Logos currently offer regular speed, 1.4x and 2x. I found 1.4x to be a little slow while 2x is too fast. I am suggesting to offer another option in between 1.4x and 2x. Thank you

This would be great. I often use this feature and sometimes the 1.4 speed is a little too fast for trying to catch what's being read.

Please add at least a 1.2 speed to the read aloud feature. Sometimes 1.4 is too fast and 1.0 is too slow. Thank you

Please provide a Read Aloud Slider so I can fine tune the narration to my comprehension level. 1x setting is too fast for me while .75x is way too slow.

After the 13.1 macOS update, you can now use Siri voices which is fantastic.

The only issue is now there are significant jumps in speed between 1x - 1.4x and 2x speed. 1x sounds about the same to me. 1.4 is now the new 2x, and 2x is now unusable; all the words run together. It is so fast.

Could you guys please adjust the speed options to be more reasonable with the new update?

    @Jacob Morton  - thanks - we'll take a look.
  • Same here! 1.4X is way too fast! Thanks for looking into it!
  • I also would like more control. I would like something in between 1 and 1.4. The slider is a great idea since I saw other comments about more than 4x speed. It is also worthy of note that some texts require slower or faster speeds to retain comprehension.

Read aloud should have more options, such as forward/backward 15/30 seconds. Speed options such as 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.3x, etc. 2x is incomprehensible even with enhanced macos voices.

Make the desktop app to have same controls as Mobile app for read aloud, please. I hope to adjust speeds like 1.25x, 1.75x which desktop read aloud doesn't give.

It would be wonderful to give users more control over the speeds they can listen to. 1.25 is prefect for me, but it's not available except in the mobile app. Please add here.

I use the read aloud feature in Logos nearly every day. But it would be very helpful if you gave us the ability to change the speed more than just 1x, 1.4x, 2x, etc. 1x is way to slow on my computer, but 1.4x is almost too fast to listen to. 2x would be almost impossible to understand. Please give us more control.
