Yes, this would be great! Three taps on an iPad to make a bullet point really slows down my note taking. I would love to do it all from my keyboard.

I use Obsidian as my main note-taking app and markdown is a game changer. Mainly because of the inline formatting abilities and backlinking. I would LOVE to see this feature in Logos!!

It'd be great if Notes, Sermon Editor, and Clippings all had the same text editing toolbar and behaviors so that the experience would be consistent throughout the app (and same goes for mobile apps). For the automatic lists, this could be a boolean (on/off) option in a menu to accommodate users who don't want the behavior, but I'd prefer it on.

This would put Logos in Present in terms of text editing... Sermon Builder is painful because of the old-fashioned way of doing certain things. Please, implement this ASAP!

You can write in Markdown in notes (at least on iOS). Look at the toolbar directly above the keyboard when you are typing.

@Wells Wilson Your second screenshot is what I am talking about. If what you mean by markdown is different default heading sizes, etc. then no, that is not in Logos. I assumed you wanted the ability to change font size, font face, font style, etc.

What is Markdown? Markdown is a lightweight markup language that you can use to add formatting elements to plaintext text documents. Created by John Gruber in 2004, Markdown is now one of the world's most popular markup languages. Using Markdown is different than using a WYSIWYG editor.

Please! This would be awesome! Many increasingly common editors use Markdown, which easily allows rich text editing, not to mention importing from those note-taking apps. I have quite a few notes in markdown apps that I'd like to import, and I'm more likely to use a note-taking app if it has markdown capabilities.

This is one of my most significant needs in Logos right now. I am so heavily invested in markdown in other tools that it keeps me from using Logos for things I would otherwise do.

The interoperability of my notes in other tools would be killer. And, markdown is just easier to use than the present formatting toolbars, especially on mobile. They are often slow and unpredictable on my devices.

This is probably one of the things that keeps me from using Logos the most for sermon and study prep. The formatting tool bar is fine for what it is, but there are several reasons why markdown would be a huge step forward. I'll list two:

Interoperability - I use a number of note-taking tools now (Obsidian, Logseq, Typora, etc.) that all use markdown. The notes easily move from one to another. In fact, Todoist even uses it, so you can slide tasks in and out of notes with a simple copy paste. My website uses markdown, so anything written that way copies with formatting in easily. The ability to easily move notes in and out of Logos this way would be excellent.

Ease of use - The present formatting toolbar is ok, but not great. This is especially true on Android mobile, but I find it lacking on the web app as well. Simple markdown syntax would greatly speed up the ability to write notes without leaving the keyboard.

My one main fear of going all-in all-the-time on Logos Notes is the fear of ever losing my notes. It would be great to know everything was cross-compatible with markdown. An easy export of all Logos notes to .md files and I'd have the perfect backup of everything in case of a rainy day. This is a huge draw toward Obsidian! I don't like all my files having to live on someone else's servers if they don't have to.

I love being able to write in **markdown** instead of having to use keyboard shortcuts or formatting ribbons. It saves time! Also, it would be great to be able to import/export notes in markdown format to/from Logos Notes.

Logos could have its grading system redesigned to be more useful. I've started using the Obsidian software for grading notes with links between notes, so I thought it would be wonderful if Logos notes worked like Obsidian or Notion, which also creates links between notes.

For those who don't know Obsidian yet, I suggest you look for good videos of it on YouTube. Obsidian uses the markdown format, which allows you to import and export notes to other services. It aims to create a neural network of information, connecting it logically and creating links with existing files.

The idea is to have a notes system that acts as a "second brain". The notes are linked and interrelated in a fantastic index system, then it presents all the notes in a graphic system reminiscent of a neural network that is very similar to Logos' "Psalm Explorer" tool (which would already help in this process).

If Logos had this function of making links between notes and sermons, we could build our entire life of notes, studies and sermons in a way that everything could be classified, interconnected and more easily located whenever we need to remember a note or subject. Imagine it all in one place and the power it would bring to Logos.

Maybe, who knows, since everything you type in Obsidian is saved as simple .txt files to make it more compatible and exportable, Logos could have the function of letting Obsidian access your notes, or vice versa.

As someone who is very frustrated with the mobile formatting toolbar, Markdown would be an amazing upgrade. I could use the markdown tags in raw text edit mode and not have to fumble around with the “Consume 1/2 the screen” tool bar and losing where I was typing.

I am another Obsidian user who continues to use Obsidian as my primary notes repository instead of Logos because they are in a future proof text format and because you can link notes to other notes, a complete game changer.

Using the Obsidian engine within Logos would be amazing. The most important piece would be linking notes to other notes using double brackets.

I also liked the "Notescraps" app that Logos offered years ago. It would be fun if we could display our notes in "Notescraps" view. Markdown would be fun as well.

As the evolution and popularity of notes apps has advanced the interoperability of many programs; it has occurred to me that it would be desirable that the present WYSIWYG text editor support Markdown. This change would be powerful and unobtrusive.

For those familiar with the language it would allow for instant extension of Logos' capabilities and for those unaware or unwilling to use the language there would be no barrier to life as usual. Even the forums supports Markdown. Viva la Markdown

I'm glad it's not just me. The formatting bar in the mobile apps is infuriating, especially when I am using my keyboard with my iPad.

It's not just text editors that use Markdown anymore. Most of the AI tools (the dreaded evil AI, I know) now use Markdown to format answers when you copy them out of the tool into a note. If I use one of these tools, I just dump the info into Obsidian because it'll take me forever to reformat everything in Logos.

I'd love to actually have my thoughts and info in one place instead of needing external programs to overcome the shortfalls of the "World's Premier" Bible study application

Yeah, on my Mac I use "Bear" and then it converts the Markdown to Rich Text that I can just copy/paste.
