Improved System Narrator-Read Aloud Functions

The read aloud function and system narrator needs some improvments:

1) The ability to scroll on the text without interrupting the reading.

2) The ability to stop the narrator and pick up where you left of easily (currently, if you stop the narrator and start it again it pick up a paragraph or two earlier, very annoying!)

3) The ability to go forward and backward 30 seconds.

4) It would be nice if the narrator would read the number when it comes across a footnote so that if you are just listening to a book you will be alerted that a reference has been made.

The narrator is currently difficult to work with if you want to truly listen to a book and have the flexablily to scroll, pause, and take your eyes off the screen. This a critical function for those of us that are auditory learners so I appricate your time and consideration.

Thank you.

Yes, yes, please PLEASE improve the Read Aloud feature!! In addition to the above, please:
    5. Allow more speed options (e.g. speed slider)
    6. Make it more reliable, better tested (e.g. don't pause at awkward places, don't stop suddenly)
    7. Make "Show word by word indicator" (aka "Karaoke dancing dot") work for human narrator as well as system narrator, PLEASE!!

yes yes yes this would be awesome
  • Yes, the System Narrator needs improvement.
    I would add:
    1. Recognize biblical abbreviations (e.g. "Gen." is "Genesis," not "general")
    2. More control to skip around, including start/stop consistency
    3. Shortcut Keys for "read aloud"
    4. Recognize and speak Greek and Hebrew words in all resources

Also, as I just mentioned in another post, it also should use the natural reading voice that Windows 11 uses for everything native to the OS rather than the old computer sounding voice.
  • Also, be able to grab and move the floating Narrator transport control box.  It covers up other boxes and I was surprised that I couldn't just grab it and move it over.  I had to change my layout to multitask.  That along with no scrolling as the reading goes out of the frame is counterproductive.  If you hear something you want to highlight, often you have to reread yourself to find it...kind of destroys the time saving of having it read to you.
