Yes, the heading does try to give the broadest possible implementation some of which are more practical than others. Watching the forums it is clear that many Logos users have never learned basic skills of advanced academic researching. I assume that while the user is reading a resource, they are likely using one of several devices taught before graduation from high school to understand the text:
1. Outline
2. Mindmap
3. Summary
4. Notes
I suggest that each of these may potentially carry an action line - a reference one wants to explore further, a search for more information or to confirm information, a check of the definition/semantic range of a term, a wish to compare two things, a question one needs to answer to understand the text, a visual presentation of the text ... . I propose that these action lines can be pulled together into an action list for the material outlined etc. and that the user can work through the list, checking off items as they are completed. The results of the action may be saved as a note or a link, or not saved at all - user's choice.
This provides a basic template for advanced academic research for whose education did not instill these skills
