Notes: Fix bug with extending selection when using a Bluetooth keyboard

When typing a note with a Bluetooth keyboard, it is easy to select a word. But when I grab a handle and try to pull it right to extend the selection, it opens the side panel with the list of notes instead of changing the selection. This happens even when I’m a dozen or more characters away from the left side of the screen. Please help!
