Well, this is PHENOMENAL! Love all of this! As someone who benefitted IMMENSELY from the forums when I fist jumped on the Logos train, I'm sure this update to the community is going to do much of the same for many new Logos Users. 😊

@Michael Schierl Did you have editing rights on the old wiki? If so, ask Jason to correct your privileges. If not, I'm sorry but I don't recall the process for gaining editing rights - I think it was a simple email request but …

@Jason Stone (Logos) one thing to tweak: the forums now require additional consent to follow external links, which I find not really neccessary, but okay. But you shouldn't regard your own ebook store as external. (Example in thread "the copper scroll")

I think this is the right forum to post on, but I apologize if it is not. The new forum has a lot of improvements, looks more modern, ability to tag people, etc, is really great. So thanks to everyone who put in so much work. I have a few thoughts, which I think may have been mentioned, but as others have said, it is kind of hard to get around the forums. Anyway…

    1. There is A LOT of white space. Zooming in the page in doesn’t work since it is a margin issue.

    2. It would help if the title of the forum is viewable and locked at the top of the page. If you are 3 pages in to a forum, there is zero indication of what post you are on.

    3. The old forum had very clear distinctions between the types of threads it contained, while now it appears that everything is sort of blobbed into one spot and only distinguished by “New Posts,” “New Requests,” and “New Ideas,” which is all pretty broad.

    4. I understand someone made the point of there being a learning curve, but it is a forum, and if a forum seriously requires a “learning curve” it deters new people just looking around.

    5. A pm / message option would be helpful.

    6. As someone else mentioned, it is great that it mentions who created a thread, but it would be helpful if the last person to comment to it was also mentioned.

    7. The old forum had a "subscribe" function, so that I could see if someone responded to what I write, but I don't see that option.

So those are just a few thoughts coming to mind, and I am sorry if this is all redundant. I had been trying to find things simply to like, but I had a difficult time finding these comments.

I had the rights. I believe I got them from being member in some Faithlife Group (not sure if I'm still member of it, but the last edits on most of the datatypes pages for personal books were by me, so I still had the right).

@Jason Stone (Logos) @Jason Stone (Logos) can one of you two (I assume one person with two profiles) please fix?

Thank you sir! I did figure it out, but it's interesting that I never knew you replied until I just stumbled upon it now!

Now I have to figure out where to find when folks reply🙄😊

Increase character limits to posts please. Limiting them is silly.

@Jason Stone (Logos) is there a setting that can be changed to force links we click to open in a new tab? If not, can it be set up on the server side settings? It would be nice to be able to keep the tab I am viewing a post in the Forums active and any link I click opening in its own tab.

Thanks a bunch for your feedback! We’ve bumped up the limit from 8,000 to 12,000.

Thank you, this is a big improvement.

I understand a minimum limit, but a maximum limit not as much. On a feed it makes sense, it prevents users from posting something that takes forever to scroll through, but in a forum that's not as much of an issue.

Using https://community.logos.com/discussions?followed=true&sort=-dateLastComment to read up on the new forum posts, there are some threads in that list where the title is not shown in bold, even though they contain new posts that I have not seen. They seem in the correct order though and there are other threads below that , which correctly show bolded thread titles.

We have decided that the focus of our community is that of public dialogue for the safety and support of all users, and have opted out of private message.

I can see the search function for the forums, but is there an option to search the feedback posts/ideas?

Great question, @Mal Walker. While on the Advanced Search page, select "Discussion" to be presented with an array of filtering options—including that of "Ideas."

Surprisingly this change to a new forum seems to largely have transitioned more smoothly than I expected. Sure there are issues but there has been, surprisingly, not as much hysteria as my spider senses foreshadowed.

I agree. I think the move from Usenet newsgroups in 2009 was much harder. There was no data to move over, it was just a big adjustment. They were not pretty, but they sure were efficient.

Here is a convincing argument as to why I found the overview of the old forum better:

It is actually completely unnecessary to mention "Started by username" as well, since the creator's logo is on the left and, if you move the mouse pointer over the logo, the same username also appears as a popup.

The old forum's layout (see example below) should simply be reinstated.

Everyone is already used to it and can continue like this or something similar!

It would be very helpful instead of read this : to prepare it just like the way MP Seminar does.

No matter what sorting option I choose in the new forums, I can't seem to get all the unread posts to appear at the top. I would think sorting by comment would do this, but it doesn't. This means I have to go through pages of read posts to find one unread 'new' tagged post. Am I missing an option to accomplish having all the 'new' tagged posts listed first?

The "Forums" page is improving looks and navigation wise with the latest update that I just noticed. @Jason Stone (Logos)

Having the posts sorted by "New Comments" will bump the newest posts and comments to the top of your discussion list feed.

Jason, first of all I want to understand me that I am not complaining. Definitly many improvement have been done, but why don't you please prepare a video that it may be easy to follow? Please I beg you to take some time to prepare video to be able to use it as it is intended .
