It is always a challenge to learn anything new. Let us know specific things that you are trying to find and perhaps we can directly you accordingly.

Can all the white space be reduced a little more?

Can we add some dedicated subforums?

So are we no longer separating out platforms? I see they are separated for the betas but not for the regular channels? Or did I miss something?

I don't like it when this happens … and I don't like people removing their threads when they have a satisfactory answer.

Aren't they handled by tags like the denominational forums?

Hey guys, thanks for the work in updating the forums :)

I can see the search function for the forums, but is there an option to search the feedback posts/ideas?

Can we get email notifications when someone replies? And can we choose which threads we get email notifications about? That was a great feature of the old forums.

Okay, tip of the day 67/68 show that the maximum size of a post is too small - together they cover a topic of a reasonable daily size.

@Jason Stone (Logos) what is the maximum size. These tops of the day are extremely useful and informative and I think consideration should be given to increasing the post size to facilitate them.

https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Verse_Maps now redirects to https://community.logos.com/kb/articles/549 , resulting in a Cloudflare Gateway Timeout. Other links like https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Datatypes (redirecting to https://community.logos.com/kb/articles/546 ) work, they also contain links to the verse maps page, but that one also runs into the same timeout. For now, I'm using the archived version at https://web.archive.org/web/20240226003157id_/https://wiki.logos.com/Bible_Verse_Maps instead.

Maybe, if the new wiki software cannot cope with that page, it makes sense to put the content elsewhere, e.g. on GitHub?

This would be a big plus - as a modification to the suggestion - I'd like to again ask that we have even more control over the user view. I like @Lynden O. Williams suggestion and would really like to be able to remove Proclaim related forums from the Home Page. I'd rather use the entirety of the Home Screen space for posts related to subjects I have interest in seeing.

    A few comments:

      1. In the Overview Guide, there is no mention of what "following" does. If I understand things correctly, I know there is a plan to send emails out for followed stuff. but some statement should be made about what it does now and why I would want to follow something.
      2. Also, it would be nice if I DIDN'T follow something, that it didn't show up on the Forums page. For example, the "Word By Word" "Recent Articles" is something I would like not to show up because when I go to the forums, that's not why I'm there.
      3. Also, there is no mention about how "bookmarks" work.
    1. I THINK I know how to use the search, but the Overview Guide is confusing in its explanation of how to use it. For example, it says:
If " characters are used around certain terms, this will change the keyword generation for these terms. It also applies different rules than the full text matching.
But the double quote is only one character, so I'm not sure what it's getting at. It also does not explain how keyword generation is changed, nor what "these terms" refers to.
    2. The "Leave a Comment" field has the option to Save Draft. However, I have not clicked that button; yet if I start something, close the page, and come back, the text is still there. That frightens me because once I close a page, I would hope that my poorly worded comment would disappear from the planet.

I hate for my first reaction to be a negative one, but everything is BIGGG. Just takes up a lot of space for little content. That's just my first "out of the box" reaction before really looking at it much at all, so I hope I'll also have some good things to say later after more use.

I've been doing a search on TIP OF THE DAY 6 (the numbers are in the sixties) … but I haven't found a good solution yet. Today I was going to continue to find solutions to the link issue and the visibility issue. At the moment the best idea I have is to make a shortcut or favorite to https://community.logos.com/kb/articles/1016 but I have the wrong sequence for that to be a good solution …

Given the way quoting a post works, the system requires strict limits on posts keeping them relatively short. However, some questions (beside my tips) require thorough answers which would exceed the current limits - I'm thinking some of the cantillation and Talmud discussions. I'm working on ways to solve this and will have a couple of test posts up today.

Okay, it appears that putting a post in the post and a series of comments on the post provides a reasonable format for long posts. However, the wiping out of URL's that it doesn't find responding is NOT COOL - this time it wiped out all evidence of a link to wikipedia leaving a non-sensical sentence. The speed of your connection to a wikipedia link SHOULD NOT control the content of my post.

I went to make a second test of spreading long posts through comments but my post went into some sort of holding pen requiring approval - that is an interruption to making posts I don't need… who knows where I'll be and what I'll be doing when the post gets parole or a pardon. I doubt that I'll be at my desk ready to take the next logical steps.

The vanilla community platform has a lot of potential, so I am hopeful that this is only the start of many good things to come. The old platform was effective, but had not changed in many, many years.

@Jason Stone (Logos) one thing to tweak: the forums now require additional consent to follow external links, which I find not really neccessary, but okay. But you shouldn't regard your own ebook store as external. (Example in thread "the copper scroll")

I think this is the right forum to post on, but I apologize if it is not. The new forum has a lot of improvements, looks more modern, ability to tag people, etc, is really great. So thanks to everyone who put in so much work. I have a few thoughts, which I think may have been mentioned, but as others have said, it is kind of hard to get around the forums. Anyway…

    1. There is A LOT of white space. Zooming in the page in doesn’t work since it is a margin issue.

    2. It would help if the title of the forum is viewable and locked at the top of the page. If you are 3 pages in to a forum, there is zero indication of what post you are on.

    3. The old forum had very clear distinctions between the types of threads it contained, while now it appears that everything is sort of blobbed into one spot and only distinguished by “New Posts,” “New Requests,” and “New Ideas,” which is all pretty broad.

    4. I understand someone made the point of there being a learning curve, but it is a forum, and if a forum seriously requires a “learning curve” it deters new people just looking around.

    5. A pm / message option would be helpful.

    6. As someone else mentioned, it is great that it mentions who created a thread, but it would be helpful if the last person to comment to it was also mentioned.

    7. The old forum had a "subscribe" function, so that I could see if someone responded to what I write, but I don't see that option.

So those are just a few thoughts coming to mind, and I am sorry if this is all redundant. I had been trying to find things simply to like, but I had a difficult time finding these comments.

I had the rights. I believe I got them from being member in some Faithlife Group (not sure if I'm still member of it, but the last edits on most of the datatypes pages for personal books were by me, so I still had the right).
