Worship themes rather than preaching themes
I find preaching themes to be useless because they emphasize the possibility of squishing a scripture into a topic that does not arise naturally from it but which it can provide support. That is not to say that I don't see its usefulness to others. However, I live in a world where the theme of the service is not based on the sermon but rather on the readings which then inform the prayers, hymns, environment, and, yes, the sermon. There are a number of worship planning aids that list themes and images e.g. Gail Ramshaw's work for Lutherans. As examples from a small denomination see https://equipper.gci.org/ with example themes of remember who you are, God our deliverer, the righteous shall not be shaken …
I would like Logos/Verbum to implement a set of these worship theme in a manner that parallels the preaching themes.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
